It was a nice hotel. With a comfortable room and a clean and spacious bathroom. The F&B facilities were not very good and even in the breakfast we couldn't find much to eat.Location is good as along as you have a chauffeur driven car.

I was visiting China for the first time and was very skeptical of booking hotels. Communication is a big problem, even when you call from India to book a room. Thankfully Gehua turned out to be one of the better hotels where the staff understood some bits of English and one could enjoy a minimal conversation stay.

The hotel is well equipped and the restaurants serve some scrumptious meals, the room service is great if you dont like eating food you cant understand the names of. Some american food has made its way on their room service menu cards, so thats good news for people who have reservations about chinese food.

The hotel staff was very helpful with getting taxis as well, most taxi driver do not speak english and its helpful if the hotel staff can direct them to your destination.

Overall China happens to be one of my very memorable trips, how do you travel when you dont speak the language. Its funny how memories of all the goof ups still make me laugh some times.

Room Tip: Rooms on the lower floors are slightly better.

Gehua New Century hotel has super-clean rooms absent the dust prevalent in older Beijing hotels. The bathrooms are excellent, both bath and shower. The Japanese restaurant is affordable (unlike may other Japanese eateries) and of good quality. As for the breakfast buffet,a bit more attention needs to be paid to those who are vegetarian. Those who are carnivorous will however have a sumptous feast. An amazingly affordable hotel with 5-star comforts in one of the world's great cities

Room Tip: Smile and show that you are a friend of China

The hotel infrastructure and price are good, however there were several things quite disappointing:

- The hotel does not have a gym/health center, even though they advertise it in the site. There is an adjacent gym that does not belong to the hotel. To go there we had to pay 100 Yuen per visit, but the worse part is that the gym opens at 10AM making it practically useless for any business traveler.

- Nobody speaks any English. It made very simple things complicated. I went up to the main reception and they could not understand something as simple as "where is the gym/pool?".

We stayed in September 2011. The rooms are very nice, roomy, with a great bathroom. Internet access is excellent here which we found somewhat hit and miss in other hotels; this may have something to do with the fact that journalists stayed here during the 2008 Olympics. We found the staff exceptional, eager to help and service, and very warm. Excellent hospitality. They even brought lovely mooncakes to our room as it was their mid-autumn festival when we were there. Breakfast was excellent with a wide selection of Chinese and Western fare. We would stay here again.

This is a good quality hotel in Beijing, rooms are comfortable and have all the amenities you'd expect for this level and at a reasonable price for the city. To access the hotel you'd need to use the cheap (10+yuan) taxis, to get there from the subway line at Gulou Dajie is a 20+ minute hike. Staff were all polite and helpful, not stellar but one for the list.
