“Excellent Hotel in the Heart of Beijing”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 19, 2012

We stayed 2 nights at the Marriott City Wall and were surprised by the hotel. It has excellent, large, well-appointed rooms with all the modern conveniences found in large, quality hotels in, for instance, New York or London. The lobby and lobby bar areas are spacious and beautifully designed and the restaurants are excellent. The hotel has four towers and a myriad of rooms. It is located in Central Beijing close to and within walking distance of some attractions. I was very surprised by this excellent hotel.

“Good stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 18, 2012

Nice, modern comfortable room made recovering from a 12-hour jetlag a bit easier. The breakfast buffet was the best we have ever had - a great variety of Western and Chinese breakfast items. One caveat is that one morning when the main buffet was full they directed us to one of the satellite locations - the variety there was far more limited. The buffet as well as the other restaurants in the hotel all have 5* prices, so it pays to have the breakfast included in your rate.

Both the lobby and the rooms in the hotel have wi-fi. Lobby is free, the room is free if you become (or are) a member of the Marriott loyalty program.

There seemed to be too few elevators in each bank relative to the number of guests staying, so the wait to take the elevators was sometimes longer than expected.

The hotel is within walking distance to the Metro and one of the major railway stattions, as well as a combination mall/department store/supermarket.

“Very Good Stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 17, 2012

I've stayed here frequently on business over the last two years.. Excellent property, I generally avoid the restaurants and bar as they are overpriced. Rooms clean, staff friendly, concierge helpful. A large number of rooms being converted to condos, but construction has been quiet and discreet.

“great location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 17, 2012

the location of the marriott is central to most activities such as the pearl market, tianamen square, and the forbidden city. we went to the Great Wall on a hike and it was a beautiful 2 hr drive from the hotel. the weather was inclement while we were there so not much walking to be done. the breakfast was delicious both on the concierge floor and in the dining room. typical "bar" food in the bistro, with moderate english spoken by the wait staff. the italian restaurant in the hotel was very good with excellent service. The bar area was lively, and the service was good, i brought up a concern about hygiene in the prep area and the management quickly rectified the issue. The spa was a godsend after two long days on the wall, with facials and two massages, i can not imaging feeling any better. the staff is VERY professional and atuned to providing a thorouhgly relaxing experince. the pool are is well maintained and the separete hot tub and steam room areas are the perfect respite after a long day. accomodating group of staff, the air conditioning did not work so we had to open the window to cool the room, and long waits for a cab. all and all would stay here again.
