“Old but good”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 5, 2012

After staying in 5 or 6 different hotels in the SanLiTun area of Beijing since 2009 . this was a pleasent find. The area has plently of bars and restaurnats and local shops.. The hotel is quite old but i must say the sleep quality was very good. Bed not too hard.. good outlook (i had a room on levl 23). it was also very quiet something of a rarity for Asian hotels in general.

The lobby and hall ways are very old - but the room was good. Kitchen was great idea if you planned to stay for a long time . especially for breakfast .. do not both with it.

Bathroom could do with a good clean and anti mould.. good size desk and work area and internet also good for china - with no log on issues

Room Tip: Great location for short or long stays.. but great for extended stops in Beijing.

We stayed at taiyue suites between the 13th and the 15th of July. Until departure we were rather satisfied with the staY. We had to leave early in the morning for our flight. when we arrived at reception the receptionist told us that a cab were already booked. We were a little surprised but did have conversations with the hotel regarding taxi bookings so did not think much of it. The receptionist told us that we had to take a hotel car after seeing all our lugage. We travelled 3 adults with 2 kids and thus a lot of lugage.

We decided to pay an overprice of 250 Y since we needed a lot of lugage space. Once the hotel car arrived, we were unable to fit into the car and the receptionist was quick to organise another cab. Once on our way the cab driver in the hotel car told us we had to pay prior to arriving at the airport. We refused to do so, since we wanted to ensure that he drove us to our destination. The driver then called the receptionist on his mobile, who also urged us to pay him prior to arrival. Since we rejected once again, he stopped the car on the motorway. he closed the doors and left wih the key. we were thus held in the car WITH TWO KIDS BELOW 2 YEARS, We were unable to get out of the car. This was really upsetting. The cab caught up with us and they forced my dad in the cab to pay the money, else he would not continue the trip or let us out. My dad paid and they brought us to the airport. The cab, which my dad was in with a lot of lugage forced him to pay an additional 150 Y. By then the cab drive was more than double as expensive as the usual fare, but worse was the scare and the horrible experience it was to be held hostage on the motorway. The fact that the night receptionist of the hotel was in on the scam just made matters even worse. I would not recommend anyone to stay at this hotel and wish that no one exprience the same as we did.

An interesting stay at Tai Yue, which offered a lot of positives just seemed to fall down in a few basic areas. Firstly, the positives - the rooms are huge and two bedrooms, which were perfect for us to share the apartment with our 24yo daughter, and the location is very good with a lot of markets, bars and restaurants within walking distance. The rooms also have polished floors which is good for not absorbing the smoke that often permeates Asian hotel rooms even in the non smoking area. Perhaps in winter may not be such a positive. Then there was the 'almost there' fetaures, free broadband but no wireless, free wireless in the lobby but nowhere comfortable to sit, a kitchenette but no cutlery, a washing machine but no dryer, a nice breakfast setting but very ordinary food, a good location but staff that cannot or will not book a taxi for guests (even to the airport), etc, etc. Was still a very enjoyable stay and the size and location of the aparment and the generally helpful staff made up for the range of small omissions. Better than average, but would not cost a lot more to be so much better.

Room Tip: Non smoking if they actually meet your request

We have just returned from a week at the TaiYue Suites in Beijing. We took a two bedroomed apartment, with breakfast for three people and it cost a bit less than €650 which we consider to be excellent value. The apartment (2512) was spacious, had very comfortable beds, a good shower, big fridge and a kettle. As was mentioned in an earlier review there was no cutlery or cooking utensils but this was not something that we needed. The apartment was serviced every day and complimentary bottled water and tea bags provided. Internet(wired) was available and free in the apartment.Staff were very pleasant and many spoke English.Breakfast each morning was served in the hotel bar/restaurant. Plenty of choice in both Chinese and western food. We ate lunch and dinner here also occasionally during the week and found the quality to be very good, albeit at western prices. "Beer Mania", also in the same building had an incredible range of beers. Location was also good, easy walk to great shopping in Sanlitun, and 10 minutes to subway. We tended to use taxis which are really cheap with the airport run costing less than €10. Overall we had a very positive experience at the TaiYue Suites and would certainly stay there again if we return to Beijing.

Room Tip: While we waited to check into our suite they gave us a family room on floor 6. While it was fine for...

we were traveling with two yound kids and booked Tai Yue Suite. The room comes with two bedrooms, kitchen (refrig and microwave, stove), living room, dinning table and one bathroom. In general, the room function as we expected except for: there is no cooking utenciles in the kitchen so the stove becomes a decor and only have a shower in the bathroom which made giving bath to the kids difficult.
What we liked about this hotel: the front desk staff, most of them are very friendly and helpful. They always try to accommodate your request. The hotel is conveniently located in an area most embassies are located in beijing. There are bars, restraurants, shopping malls nearby. there are several restraurants downstairs and a night club on the second floor.
what we don't like about this hotel: we have 4 people staying in the hotel. The hotel only provide one set of hand towel and face towel. Even after I asked for it, the cleaning lady is still reluctant to give us more stating that she has 10 towels for 13 rooms. We have to beg loud to get extra from others. The room service for cleaning is not everyday. You have to ask for it and then they will come. The cleaning lady only do certain things. they never wipe the area around window- my kids got black hands after touching the window area. Overall, the hotel was not well kept. Although the cleaness of the hotel room needs some improvement, it is still livable.

Room Tip: We stayed at 25th floor- great skyline view

I was quite impressed with Tai Yue (aka Taiyue) Suites. Price (around $60) was quite reasonable for Beijing; room was huge; TV; internet; full size fridge; wash machine (no dryer) - Bathroom was fine with very nice shower; room was clean; bed comfortable. I was there 12 days so the washer was great. Plenty of local restaurants nearby; Taxis available in front of the hotel and metro station a pleasant 15 minute walk. The Village is a 7 minute walk and a great place to people watch. Sanlitun Bar Street is at the Village. It is the busiest nightlife street in Beijing. Rooms were quiet.
Cleanig staff kind and helpful; front desk staff spoke sufficient English and were helpful. I lived in China for 10 years; 7 in Beijing; This is a good location and price seems great. I have rebooked for 12 days in October and then again for 14 days in November.
