“Nice hotel, far from City Center”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 30, 2012

This hotel was part of a package for our trip to China in July 2011. It was a new(er) hotel, hence very clean and shiny inside; a typical Sheraton-brand hotel. Service was good and many of the staff can communicate in English. Hotel is quite a bit of ways from the city centre. The cab driver from the airport had trouble finding the hotel, but it could be because it was a fairly new hotel. Breakfast buffet was great as there was an abundance of selection.

Welcom home, our old friend! Thank you for your support and loyalty to Aloft Beijing. We've been working on improving our staff's English ability so that we could overcome the langauge barrie to offer foreign guests a seamless well service. Also, our monthly special at Nook Restaurant in October is steamed hairy crabs, so don't miss the chance to have a try! Looking forward to seeing your next visit soon!

Very modern hotel and really nice room, breakfast good and was in the right part of town. The hotel is let down by the lack of staff who can speak English. I know this is China but in an international business hotel it should not take 20 minutes to arrange a car because nobody on the front desk speaks English. The same problem in trying to get an iron that worked or when ordering room service.

A lot of hotels are held together by the staff when the building lets you down here it is the opposite. Save for the Western trainee who try really hard. The staff are not unfriendly just out of their depth.

Will not be my choice if I one here again but if I am put in here also would not be the end of the world.

Thank you very much for sparing time to comment on our hotel. We are delighted to hear about your positive comments on the hotel itself and we also apologize for our let down by the staff part. We've been working on to improve the staff's English and we do feel very sorry for any inconvenience caused by the language issues. Next time, whether you need to arrange a car or want a room service, don't hesitate to ask for our Guest Service Manager to help you if the staff couldn't get your meaning. We will keep on improving our service and we are looking forward to your next visit here in the future.

We secured our executive rooms before arrival and 1 normal SPG room. Hotel compound is new, modern and clean except for the occasional spit you see in the lift lobby floral decoration. The normal room was cosy and spacious; separate bath & shower, coffee machine and a comfy big king sized bed. However, aircon was leaking in this room on our last night and we had to change rooms. The other executive suite we secured with our Platinum membership was awesome! Spacious living room with a toilet, dining table and chairs and a sofa lounge for watching tv outside. The bedroom was equally spacious - had a study table, a lounge chair, big king sized bed with ensuite toilet with tv (2x 350ml water for brushing teeth; bath & shower separated), 2 wardrobes for hanging clothes, comfy bedroom slippers, 4x 350ml water provided at mini bar. We had a street view. Club lounge is big and peaceful (not too many people used it while we were there); breakfast selection is one of the biggest we have seen in the SPG hotels so far. Food is not bad, they have smoked salmon, and mostly local fare served. GR shopping mall (Lotus supermarket at B1) and Wal-mart is within walking distance, there's a local fashion mall, spa, 24hr local porridge eatery, Yoshinoya and provision shop at the street behind Tai Mansion. Indoor swimming pool (requires swimming cap available for purchase for 30yuan) was very crowded with children. Staff service was prompt, butlers at main entrance spoke minimal English but was helpful to help get taxi, staff were all locals. Nearest subway is Ba Gou which is 15yuan taxi ride away, city centre and Beijing South Railway Stn is far away (at least 50yuan taxi ride). We took taxis mostly to and fro town from our hotel but tried the subway (buy a Smart Card), it was a little troublesome to keep changing lines to get to the city (at least 2x). Not all drivers are familiar/willing to get to Yuanda Rd, so do remember the taxi fare (don't get ripped off), route & the hotel name in Chinese or take a biz card. Other than the location and some boys giving out "Girls for service" card at night just outside the hotel lobby entrance, we think this is a modern and good hotel to stay in.

we appreciate it very much that you took your time to comment on our hotel in such a detailed way. We are much delighted to hear about your comfortable and satisfactory staying experience, though we do appologize for the inconvenience caused by the air-conditioner.
For the transportaion issue, there's a good news that a new subway station named changchunqiao will be put in use very soon and it will be much closer to our hotel than the Bagou subway station. Thanks again for your support on Four Points by Sheraton Beijing, Haidian and we are looking forward to your next visit very soon!

I choose this hotel because of previous experiences. As I arrived, front desk staff indicated about being upgraded to executive larger room. Suits were not available (however, they were available online). Room was very very small / I received standard room on executive floor (forgot to mention "Platinum" with SPG). Went to executive lobby to change room- was offered deluxe room on the 9 floor. Room had dirty marble floor in the carpet was not fresh. Make it a long story short- change a few rooms, receive room more/less cleaner then previous ones. I though, no more issues. Was wrong. In order to open a safe, each time I had to call security to open with their machines. Safe would not open on programmed numbers. Had no time to wait for safe to be switched.
Button line is, for the reasons I selected that hotel-business travel, clean rooms, quality services- I should selected ALOFT NEXT DOOR. This Hotel did not leave good feelings as I was expecting.
Was there for 2 nights, went back to Shenzhen Four Points By Sheraton-all of my bad feelings were gone as soon as I checked in to that hotel

Travelled with family on a group tour, and was pleased with the hotel choice, especially as the location was not a critical determinant. Very good rooms, with plenty of space, and an excellent bathroom. Tea/coffee maker was avalaible. One complimentary bottle of water, so you will need to buy extra.

Great breakfast, with plenty of choice.

Did not experience any langauage problems in the limited interaction with staff.

There are some shops and an (expensive) mall nearby on one side, and some restaurants on the other side, including a Peking Duck restaurant.

All in all, a good hotel.

I visited this hotel on a tour to China with The Travel Department. My bedroom was superb, and I very much enjoyed the Chinese and Western fare at the excellent breakfast buffet. I enjoed 2 buffet dinners which were of Chinese fayre - great variety and wonderful taste. There iis a supremely modern and clean pool area in the basement of the hotel. I would not hesiate to recommend this hotel, although it is located in the Haidian business district of the vast city of Beijing, quite a way from many of the attractions.
