Courtyard 7 feels like you are staying in a piece of historical Beijing - the rooms we stayed in had beautiful Chinese furniture. We stayed in February, it was freezing outside, but there is underfloor heating so the rooms are really warm. The bathroom was modern. The hotel itself is set around a lovely Courtyard. Breakfast was good. We ate in the hotel one evening and the food was good.

The location itself is off a busy street with lots of interesting shops and food stalls, and further along the street are lots of restaurants. There is a subway station 8-10 mins walk away. As mentioned in other reviews - it is difficult for a taxi to get to the hotel during afternoon and early evening.

I would highly recommend staying here. If you do, try and explore the Hutong more - down some of the back streets you get a better feel for real life. The Bell and Drum towers are a short walk, worth a visit, with another interesting Hutong on a lake a few minutes walk away.

Wanted to stay somewhere where I actually felt like I was in China. This was PERFECT. Had a bit of trouble finding it at night since the cab couldn't get through all the people and narrow streets so if you arrive at night, make sure you have a good idea it is down a side alley off S. Luogu Alley. Very short walk to Nanluoguxiang subway station, Jingshan Park, the Forbidden City, They have there own set up where you can take a private car to the Great Wall (well worth little over $100) We opted for Mutianyu section (less touristy - saw few other people) and he got us there in 1 1/2 hrs and back in time to also visit the Forbidden City. Hosts at the hotel were very inviting and helpful. Great breakfast (included) and wonderful shopping area along Luogu Alley as well as excellent food and some seriously funky stuff to buy too. Our room was very charming and the floors heated. Updated bathroom with excellent shower. No hesistating recommending this place. Don't go if you want to stay in yet another boring Ritz Carlton place. Not sure if they have room service but they will be right there if you need anything.

Room Tip: All rooms are located off a courtyard and since it was just 2 of us, selected a medium priced room...

As part of my Beijing trip arranged by China highlights I was taken to courtyard 7 for lunch included in the trip. The restaurant was located in a narrow traditional Beijing street with in a very traditional chinese garden and building. Too bad the restaurant was quiet and the guide and I were the only vsitors. I think it would have added to the atmosphere if there more people there. The food was excellent. I was given a very good traditional soup, a spicy vegetable dish and a fried beef mixed with rice. For dessert I was give pancakes. It was so good, but I was so full.

In december we spent a week in a superior room. The hotel is really wonderful and both restaurant and rooms are beautifully furnished. During winter, rooms could be a bit cold. Breakfast is good, having dinner at the hotel's restaurant it's not a bad idea, though the menu is a bit pricey. Close to the subway station. Highly recommended.

Courtyard 7 is a beautifully restored hotel that will provide an insight into Beijing architecture that sadly many tourists staying in typical hotels must miss. The comfort and furnishings of the hotel were first rate; the all important heating was terrific, food good and beds comfortable. All round good value! My daughter and I loved the local area; despite the busyness of the day, the hotel was blissfully quiet. Go ahead and book it! If you support the preservation of cultural heritage and love travelling with a few creature comforts, this hotel is for you.

This is a traditional courtyard building therefore the entrance just off a rather smelly alleyway is rather disconcerting after a very long flight however what is inside is nothing short of amazing. The building is very very old but clean, traditionally decorated, welcoming and fascinating as the rooms are arranged around each internal courtyard of which there are three. The rooms are traditionally furnished, the ensuite bathrooms modern, the mattresses memory foam (blissfully comfortable) The courtyards are quiet, smell free and the staff can't do enough to make your stay enjoyable. The location in the old alleyways is brilliant as you really get a flavour of old Beijing not the corporate face so often shown to tourists. They are vibrant exciting and we felt safe at all times. Well done China travel for finding us such a gem.
