“Highly recommend!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 19, 2013

This is an authentic Hutong courtyard with modern amenities and outstanding staff.
This was our one last stop in Beijing before flying back home. We had plans for last minute shopping on Lougu st and dining somewhere on HouHai lake. Unfortunately our flight was delayed - first indefinitely, then at the end - by 8 hrs. I was communicated with hotel back and forth from the airport constantly as we booked transfer with them. They were extremely supportive. First Gyan Gao , then Lee... When we finally got there at 11:30PM, they were waiting for us, gave us free upgrade to a larger room which was a delight.
We run to do our shopping - Tea store right around the corner was still open and a lovely English speaking girl who we met 2 weeks prior - stayed with us well past midnight...
Although we obviously did not make it to the Lakes for dinner - we just sat in our courtyard for awhile looking at the stars... Night was quiet and peaceful... We felt we were sleeping in a fortress...
In the morning we were awoken by birds singing...This all is in the middle of a bustling local life, right in the middle of Beijing...
We also had a lovely morning stroll through Hutong as well...
Breakfast was very good - fresh eggs among other things - they will do them for you whichever way you want... etc...
When the time came to leave, Nancy who was at the reception desk made sure we have a taxi cab and the driver instructed on where exactly to take us. She even insisted on carrying our suitcase to the car to which we strongly objected (she is a petite girl) but she was adamant...
I highly recommend this hotel to anyone who is seeking an authentic Chinese experience - wonderful hotel, wonderful area...

Located in a very "touristic" district of Beijing, you walk into Courtyar & hotel and somehow all the madness that is the Dongcheng District disappears. Here you will find tranquil seating areas to read, relax and unwind. My husband and I love it! The only downside is the breakfast is rather limited, but the rooms are comfortable and very clean. Staff is helpful. Avoid excess charges by booking tours yourself as the hotel doubles the price of everything. Their fee for making the bookings for you.

This place is a real gem. It looks like nothing from the outside, but then you step into the place and walk through the many courtyards to your room and it takes your breath away. very traditional looking however the rooms are extremely modern with amazing fitted out bathrooms, aircon, tv and everything you could want. The staff were friendly and helpfull.
It is a very hard place to find, we even had the address in Chinese but the taxi driver had know idea where to drop us (he wasn't the most sane taxi driver mind you).
The location is spot on. The surrounding hutong area is amazing with plenty of shops, bars and eateries.
I wouldn't stay anywhere else!

Courtyard 7 is hard to get to, but it's well worth the effort. This is not your typical hotel! It's a restored set of courtyards from the Qing dynasty. The rooms are not large but very pretty with period bed and furniture, and the bathrooms are beautiful (with all the amenities including a blow dryer). The hotel has a lovely restaurant and serves a very good daily breakfast buffet (included with your room). The coffee was great!! You can also order lunch or dinner in the restaurant or on the patio. Staff spoke English and French, so we were able to communicate well.

Room Tip: Be sure to check the functioning of the air conditioner, as that is the only ventilation in the room...

We were booked in Courtyard 7 for 4 nights. The location is interesting and not too difficult to find if you can read the map. However, ensure to have the address in Chinese before getting into a cab. All the cab drivers do not understand English. Be prepared to walk with your luggages for about 100 m if you were dropped off on the North side of the main street.

The room is spacious and clean. The breakfast is good however, the quantity is limited. If you are late for breakfast and they ran out of fresh fruits, they do not replace them. We have tried their restaurant for one night. Though at first glance, the menu was expensive, however, if you ordered the local dishes, they are actually reasonably priced and of generous portion. The waiting staff though friendly is not well trained and was too busy chatting with the kitchen staff. It took a while to get her attention. The staff at reception are very helpful and friendly. We would recommend Courtyard 7 as it has the essence of the old imperial China.

The excellent comments kindly provided by travellers on trip adviser led us to book 2 nights here in June. The location is excellent and the exceptionally friendly and helpful staff made our stay in this authentic Chinese accommodation with all mod cons a highlight to the end our holiday. Definitely to be recommended.

A quaint "hotel" nestled in the bustling alleys of inner Beijing.

The hotel is built within a fully restored Beijing noble men's home. You are transported back in time 200-300 years every time you return to the inn. Except that Courtyard 7 has most western conveniences: air conditioning. WiFi, blow dryers etc, plus a dedication to modernity as evidenced by their geo-thermal heating and hot water system.

It is an extremely quaint place. If you insist in plush carpeting and modern mattresses, go elsewhere. But if you want an "authentic" and special experience book it. Rooms come with a daily breakfast that is adequate for a quick start on the day.

Finally it is located within a block of dozens of bars, restaurants and heavily-touristed shops.

A final word: the staff is amazing. Friendly, accommodating and made us feel like we were a long lost familial relation.
