I have known about the hotel for quite a while and it was a pleasure to be able to stay with my wife and 10 year old daughter.
Check in at the hotel is easy with very helpful and friendly reception staff, who were able to answer all the questions that I had. A little glass of herb tea also refreshed during the check in.
The Hotel has its own special character, which transpires from the reception through to the rooms. The size of the room we had was very good, in fact my daughter did not want to sleep on the spare bed that was put up, but preferred instead to be able to take over the two seat sofa, which was more like you would have at home than is normally found in a hotel room. This was actually good as it enable us to have plenty of room to play Wii, which is supplied free of charge by the hotel.
The room had good work desk space with a dedicated table lamp, next to the iPod docking station, which is always a nice touch. Additionally there was a very comfortable arm chair with a swinging overhead lamp, which could be over either the chair or the bed, ideal for a comfortable read. The bed was comfortable and we had a great sleep.
The hotel does not have a pool, but the gym is adequate and is open 24 hours a day, next to the business center, but most of the activity that residents would have is from the great location of the hotel, a short walk away from Sanlitun Village and easy to get to other parts of Beijing for either business or pleasure.
The hotel does have two restaurants, Japanese or Scarlett’s a French Bistro. The food in Scarlett’s was very good and the prices sensible, including the wine prices and pouring measure. It was a place that you could tell many locals enjoy, as Alex the Manager seemed to know everyone. The cheese and cold cut selection is one of the best and it was very popular. There were many other little touches that all added to the experience.
Next morning breakfast was again very good, a nice sensible selection of cold items and then menu for the hot covered everything you could want.
A place to remember and one that I will be recommending.
