“Pleasant hotel to stay near Sanlitun”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 17, 2012

Hotel G is a gem in the worker's stadium neighbourhood (near Sanlitun). It takes about 15 minutes to walk to the Salitun soho area from the hotel. There are also some nice resturants (Golden Lotus for thai food and Bellagio for some quick chinese food) along the way. Hotel breakfast is not bad - you get to pick a hot breakfast ala carte and there's also a small selection of buffet breakfast food (dim sum, toasts, cheese etc).

Rooms are big and comfortable, not to mention that it is quite tastefully furnished. There is a fun element to the rooms as you can pick the colors of the neon lights at your windows! The bathroom is a tad old but nontheless clean.

Staff are friendly and always willing to help. I would stay here again if I intend to visit Beijing.

“Stylish smart hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 13, 2012

Nicely designed, although a little tired, with great staff who try and make your stay pleasurable.
Was not too impressed with the food here ... But again the service staff made all the difference.
Great location.
Comfortable room layout.

“I stay here every month it's that good.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 11, 2012 via mobile

I stay at Hotel G every month for about a week. It's my home away from home in Beijing and they always try to accommodate my requests. The rooms are roomy and bed comfortable. The bar downstairs has a great vibe and the breakfasts with the fresh orange juice are great. It is conveniently located near worker's stadium and Sanlitun so is 5 minutes in a taxi to most of the stuff outside of work that an international traveller would want. Sometimes it's difficult to get a taxi but the hotel has a car so can get you to where you need to go if it's particularly urgent. A great boutique hotel in a city where you need fluent English-speaking staff if you can't speak the local lingo. Highly recommend it.

“Stylish hotel with good rooms in tiny road”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 3, 2012

This is a great place to relax and to work. Internet in rooms with own router! is reliable and fast. Very stylish rooms and atmosphere in the hotel. The road is very small and therefore has no traffic. Very close to an impressive line of clubs and bars to go out during weekends.

“Very Hit and Miss.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 16, 2012

The holiday didn't start well. Arrived at Beijing airport with the hotel driver and car absent. I travel to china a lot and i dread getting taxi's around unfamiliar areas. Tried calling the hotel, no one answered. Ended up tracking down our travel agent in Australia who also couldn't get through to the hotel. In the end after about US$30 in phone calls we gave up and we made our own way in. When we got to the hotel and explained that their driver never arrived, that we just spent a load of money trying to get hold of them, and no one was answering their phone. We got a limp apology and some shoulder shrugging.

We got to our room and immediately were disappointed as our 'none smoking' room stank of cigarettes ash. We had a word with the front desk, and were assured they would figure out something. eventually we were moved to another room on the same floor that also stank of cigarettes. Eventually I figured out that we were on the smoking floor and they were just moving us from one smoking room to the next and that smoke was also being circulated through the vents. After a couple of days we eventually managed to get off the smoking floor. All in all we wasted a lot of time. This should be a no brainer for hotel staff.

We had a lot of trouble with taxi's in Beijing and asked the hotel if there was any premium taxi / limo services we could use to get us about. They weren't of much help, and so we spent a lot of our time figuring our own solutions to common problems and asking the hotel to help implement them.

Overall I was quite disappointed with this 'trendy' hotel. Overall I feel we wasted a lot of time on trying to fix things that are among the core skillset of a hotel to handle for it's guests.

Individually the staff were very nice and some staff members did all they could to help, but generally I got the feeling that the hotel has too many inexperienced staff and the hotel completely lacks that slick experienced service you get at bigger hotels. The 'cool and trendy' nature of this boutique hotel doesn't make up for these short comings. I do note though that this hotel is less expensive then bigger, slicker hotels, but generally there is HUGE room for improvement.
