“Stylish but a bit dated”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 7, 2012 via mobile

We stayed in Hotel G for three nights during the National Day Holidays. The reservation was made on the web for a Great Room with breakfast included. When checking in, a "Great Room" on 2/F was offered. While we didn't think it is of the size as mentioned on the webpage, we asked if a higher floor one could be provided. The receptionist replied that this was not mentioned in our reservation. Upon our further request, she checked and returned with a bigger room on 3/F. While the view is pretty the same, the room size is at least 100 sf bigger. This made us suspicious if the original offer is a Good Room or really a Great Room!

The room is big and stylishly decorated. Amenities are well thought and of good quality. Some drinks in the mini bar are free. With the curtain closed, the room can be perfectly dark even the external decoration LED light are switched on, although you may choose to switch it off. Free wifi in room and all public area are stable and fast. However, for a hotel of 4 years old, the decoration is a bit dated. The timber furniture are scratched and de-colored.

The Scarlett (the all day dining restaurant) is cozy and we had breakfast there. The buffet bar offers limited selection but of good quality. Hot dishes can be chosen from menu and is made to order.

The gym on 6/F is well equipped and the business centre next to it is equally nice, although both are small.

One last comment is the location. It is a bit off from the nearest subway stations. Sanlitun is 20 minutes by walk. Once taking a taxi to the hotel, we just realized that she doesn't have a Chinese name! While we don't remember the name of the adjoining roads, we could only tell the driver going to the Asia Hotel which is the closest building we can name!

“A nice boutique Hotel with reasonable fare”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 5, 2012

I stayed one night with my wife at the hotel G and was favorably impressed by the hotel.
I have been in the restaurant many time but it was my first time in the hotel (I live in Beijing).

Rooms are spacious, clean and very well designed !

I know many hotels in Beijing and in my opinion, it's one of the best value for money !

I will recommend it to my visiting friends and family and would happily go back if I have the opportunity.

“Little Gem in Big Beijing!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 2, 2012

This is an awesome little Hotel in the Big City of Beijing slowly making its mark in the Boutique Hotel Scene.
Although bit hard to find yet an easily accessible location if you know Beijing well. First thing you will notice is the Purple Color of the whole building and the dimly lit lobby. The lobby staff are a welcome relief from the non-English speaking Taxi Drivers of Beijing. The lobby staff knew perfect English and this lady Ane from the Hotel Management helped us a lot in ways getting around in Beijing.
We got a Complimentary Upgrade to their Better Room from the Good Room we booked as our Room was getting cleaned at the time we arrived.
Now on the Rooms: I would say one of the best decorated rooms I have ever stayed in! A spot lit room with modern facilities like Ipod Dock a 40inch Toshiba Television, a Full Mini-Bar and Daily Snacks apart from the super comfortable King Bed. The Mood Lighting in the Room and the Giant Size Portrait Painting is good too. The bathroom has a decent size Bathtub and Rainforest Shower as advertized with L'Occitane accessories. The Floor seems to be granite and very well colored to keep in mind the dark colors of the hotel. The Room itself is value for money if you see the price of the entire package with Breakfast.

Scarlett Restaurant: We had our first meal in Beijing with a Caesar Salad and Spaghetti in Pesto Sauce. The first time around our Caesar Salad turned out to have Chicken which we don't eat but Ane helped us get it changed. The Breakfast is included in the Room Rate and has quite a decent spread they have Cooked to Order Omelets and their French Toast is Heavenly.

Apart from the dimly lit Rooms and the Lobby I did not find any short comings for the Hotel. One Advice please change the Towels of the Hotel now, they are getting old and worn out.

A Big Thumbs Up!

Room Tip: Take a Higher Floor, Non Smoking are available too.

“funky hotel for the younger generation”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 24, 2012

i liked this hotel, it seems to be aimed at the 30-45 age group. the bed was the best i have ever slept in and the room size was just huge as was the bathroom. the room was a little too dark for my liking but others may find that appealing. all the amenities have been well thought through as well as the added extras (like ipod docking station, converters, free minibar drinks). my only complaint was that even though the shower was clean it smelt of mould as it was all in the grout on the tiles, not very attractive and the minibar fridge was not cold at all and trying to get ice to the room was extremely difficult. the breakfast was delicious and when i left very early the next day they even packed a box up for me. i would definitely book and recommend this hotel to future travellers.

“Very nice place”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 24, 2012

I booked this place with airline miles and was not sure entirely what to expect. It is located on a small street. Takes about 10 -12 minutes to walk to the subway. The staff were friendly. Breakfast was included with my room and was quite good with a nice buffet with fresh fruit, meat, boiled eggs, cereals and bread as well as a small menu of Western and Asian hot breakfast. While the outside of the hotel looked a bit worn, the inside was quite nice. My room spotless. The bath really nice. The beds super comfortable with great pillows - actually the nicest bed I have slept in in China. The internet was reasonable but a bit slow - Skype calls worked okay on voice but the video broke up a lot and my mail downloaded a bit slow.

Room Tip: I stayed in a "great room" but they told me I was upgraded - my room 216 was huge, quiet a...
