“Great location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 19, 2013 via mobile

Stayed here for 3 nights at the start of our 3 week tour to China.
We were greeted on arrival by English speaking staff which helped make the checking in process easy. Our room was on the ground floor and was bright and clean and modern. There was a mini fridge stocked with water, cola and a couple of beers! This was completely free of charge and was filled daily! Newspapers were left outside our room each morning and small cakes and a daily weather report left each evening. Breakfast was lovely with a good selection of hot and cold food and drinks. The roof top bar had beautiful views of the forbidden city, although we did find the drinks here very expensive compared to the city bars and cafes.
The hotel is really well situated if you want to be close to lots of local attractions, whilst away from the immediate hustle and bustle of the city. It's position gives you an insight into the real Beijing. The city centre shops are only a ten minute walk away

All in all we loved Beijing and TheEmperor Hotel is an excellent base from which to explore the city!

We loved this hotel but I'd understand it not being to everyone's taste. If you are the type of person who doesn't like New World Wine, risque comedy or music written after you were born, it may not be the place for you. The rooms are very well designed to maximise the space - they are actually quite small but there is no shortage of space for storage, sleeping or relaxing. The free mini-bar, re-stocked daily in every room, is also a very nice touch. The staff are very helpful and the roof-top bar and restaurant are superb (if a little pricey) and worth a visit even if you are not staying here. The location is amazing; walking distance to Tiananmen Square, Forbidden City, etc and actually just a good area for a general stroll to get a feel for the city.

This is a wonderful hotel. The people are very helpful and it's in a nice location near the Forbidden City. You will find you can have a very good time walking 10 minutes in any direction to find all the interesting parts of Beijing.

It's position gives you an insight into the real Beijing. It felt safe enough to venture out and eat in the small family run eating houses! The food was delicious and cost as little as 75p per person!! The city centre shops are only a ten minute walk away. Here you will find the usual collection of high street stores such as Zara, Nike & Gap!! All the stores are open until 10pm. There are also a couple of traditional night markets selling food including the dreaded bugs!!!
All in all we loved Beijing and TheEmperor Hotel is an excellent base from which to explore the city!

Room Tip: There is no lift so if you have any mobility problems request a ground floor room.

My experience at the Emperor was really good, it's a good value for money, well located close to the forbidden city, in a small alley.
The room was really big,the complimentary drink was really appreciated with a lot of choice refill every day! the breakfast not so bad, the view from the roof top where you can take the breakfast quite nice. the place really clean.
I really recommend this place

An excellent hotel, wonderful value and central to Tian'anmen square and the Forbidden City.
Staff, especially in restaurant, very cheerful and helpful. Their knowledge of English was excellent. The cleaning staff were always smiling. Reception staff not as enthusiastic in their work!
The decor was certainly a talking point. Very modern and quirky.
The room was spacious and light with a wonderful bathroom / shower room which was a delight to use. The bed was so comfortable.
All little touches were very welcome such as cakes and biscuits left in your room at night and the replenishment of toiletries on a very regular basis.
Food excellent. Both the buffet style breakfast and the evening meals.
Wonderful views from the roof over the city.
Would recommended this hotel to couples and families. Good value.

Room Tip: Choose rooms on first floor and above for less noise from street. However no lifts so ground floor r...

We stayed here for 2 nights. The location was perfect for seeing what Beijing has to offer, and the price was perfect. The staff held our bags even after we checked out for 12 hours while we toured Beijing and then waited for our flight! Also, the restaurant had pretty good food and a great view.

Room Tip: Ask for an upper floor if you plan on sleeping past 8am.
