We had a wonderful stay at Bamburi Beach Hotel. Food was amazing. The hotel staff were friendly and helpful, servis also. We really have great time there. But the real Kenya is waiting for you behind the hotel gate. You have to see Mombasa city, safari, Wasini Island, Haller park etc etc...

We had a wonderful stay at The Bamburi Beach Hotel. The hotel staff was very helpful and assisted in arranging many things. They were super friendly and courteous too! We had a great time there.
The Manager was always presented, he is coming to you every meal to check about your stay, even between the meals he comes to your sunbeds.
I recommend Bamburi Beach Hotel; I was really satisfied with what I got there. You can use the swimming pools till 6.00 p.m. (they pour some chemicals), LOCATION. The location of the hotel is perfect. The beach is nice, however, it is not so wide and the sand is not as white as on Diani Beach. SERVICE. Service guys are very friendly and they do not pester you, in the evenings there are organized some animations. ROOM. My room (in the Reception building, II floor). It was very clean, with white walls, comfortable bed and proper mosquito net. The service guy cleans rooms diligently every day. CATERING. The breakfasts are good – every day and it is possible to have breakfast very early if needed e.g. before safari at 4 AM.

Room Tip: Higher Floors Have Good Sea View

We stayed at the bamburi beach hotel for two weeks in january this year, the food was wonderful - plenty of variety and always nice and hot. The staff were excellent especially Mercei in the dining room and Hassan the general manager. I would thoroughly recommend this hotel and we will definitely be going back. Our two year old gran daughter came with us and was totally spoilt by all the staff (again) especially Mercei and Hassan.
The rooms were cleaned every day, the sheets and towels changed every day - any request we made was attended to immediately. A big thank you to all at this hotel for making our holiday a wonderful experience.

Room Tip: Ask for a room away from the disco next door, which fortunately is only on a Saturday night.

A 4 star hotel in Africa translates to a maximum 2 star property in the first world. The rooms are quite basic, with furnishing and decoration that is probably up to a high standard for Kenya. The bed mattresses are thin and hard, the bathroom was not very clean and the shower cabin less than inviting.
The pool area is actually quite nice, it looks clean and there are a lot of sun beds available. There is direct beach access, but since the beach is not private, be ready to get constantly hassled by the so-called beach boys who'll try to sell you everything from jewellery to safaris.
The all-inclusive buffet was very nice, a descent amount of variation day-to-day and about 4 different vegetarian dishes to choose from, mainly Indian style.
Although I would not call Bamburi Beach hotel an ideal vacation spot, it is doable if you intend to spend most of your time outdoors exploring Kenya or just relaxing by the pool. The real letdown was this properties management, who seem to want to mostly please the international tour operators put don't really care about their real guests. We had an incident on saturday night where the discotheque next door was playing really loud (glass shaking) music until 4 AM. We went to complain at reception and it turns out that this happens every saturday night. After some discussion we where located to another room in a more quiet part of the hotel. I talk to management extensively about this and they where very defensive, saying they move everyone who complains. Since this is a weekly recurring problem, just relocating guests who complain does not seem like good business practice to me. They know the rooms affected so the least they could do is tell guests beforehand. It might not seem like a big deal but moving your bags yourself to another room at 12 PM right before going to sleep, after a few hours of pounding beats is not a nice experience, especially on holiday.
Good management costs the same as bad, and Bamburi Beach hotel management really let us down here. If you want quality and service, look elsewhere. #freeasbirds

Room Tip: Don't let them put you in a room on the left wing facing the disco.
