“fabulous time”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 17, 2012

this was our 4th stay at the bamburi beach hotel. we were given a very warm welcome by every-one. I e-mailed the hotel a couple of weeks before we arrived and asked for room 231, which we have had on previous occassions. we had friut put in our room and a welcome back card both before and after our safari. the animation team work very hard at the activities and i played scrabble several times in the afternoon with veronica, she's getting very good. I went snorkling for the first time with Bruno(he's very good and made me feel safe) and Eddie from the dive centre at the hotel, i enjoyed the first time so much i went a seocnd time a couple of days before we came home.
we had already booked our safari in england before travelling, but also booked a 2day, 1 night safari to Ngulia wih James (Brown) of smile tours down on the beach and had a fantastic time. we have made so many friends here at bamburi and down on the beach it makes it hard when the time to say good-bye comes. all that is left to say after such a fantastic holiday is roll on next year WE'LL BE BACK!!!

Room Tip: we have always had a room on the left side of the hotel with a sea view and over looking the main po...

we had been to kenya several times and had fallen in love with it, so when we decided to get married it only seemed correct to do it in kenya.we choose this hotel for value for money and also because it done weddings. on arrival we found out we had to meet our wedding co-ordinater the same day at 1pm we were both hot ,exhausted and needed food so it didnt go down really well at first, however we thought ok lets get it out the way! we were due to get married 3 days later at 3pm. we checked into our room which was really nice we had room 303 which was slighty bigger with a large bathroom and a view overlooking the pool and the indian ocean.
as we were a party of 11 the hotel kindly put a long table together for us where we sat for each meal. the food was really nice a different selection each evening and always hot. the staff were all really welcoming and nothing was to much trouble. Mercy and Julie ann were fantastic.
our wedding day was amazing! the hotel and staff really done us proud, we got married on the decking of the fishermans cove right next to the beach with the waves of the indian ocean crashing around us, we had the kenyan dancers who walked us through the grounds of the hotel dancing and singing!! Altough we had gone all inclusive the fishermans cove resturant was not included and we paid for a meal after the wedding for us and our guests and it was well worth it the food was fantastic. we then stayed there for the evening with a waiter bringing us drinks from the all inclusive bar!!
The hotel was clean and tidy at all times including the public areas. our hotel room was kept spotless during our 2 week stay.

We booked a safari through JT safaris and we were not disappointed. we stayed at sotao tented camp on tsavo east and seen elephants, lions, and cheetahs plus many more.
we didnt pay for the safari untill out return when JT know that we were happy with the safari.

The beach boys did pester us everytime we walked on the beach but we told them we were here for 2 weeks and we would see them at the end of the holiday so everytime they seen us they would say "end of holiday you come and see me" but it was only a bit of fun! we did keep our promise and at the end we gave away clothes, socks etc in exchange for small gifts and carved animals

bottled water isnt available on the all inclusive and the hotel leave a flask of drinking water in your bathrooms which we used for cleaning our teeth. there is a shopping mall down the road where bottled water is very cheap. Also diet drinks isnt available on the all inclusive the hotel does have them but you have to pay for them.

we are used to visiting kenya in january and this was the first time we had gone end of september begaining of october. in january it has been very hot, this time although the temp was 31 on average there was a breeze that kept you cool, on a evening i was wearing a cardi whilst sat outside watching the entertainment.
The entertainment was mostly outside entertainers bought in ie:kenyen dancers, acrobats live bands.(remeber this is kenya!)

There is food available at the grill which is behind the resturant with a quieteir pool but you will have to wait for it as it is freshly cooked (45 min for a steak sandwich)

We were due to be picked up from the hotel at 5.30am on the day we were leaving for the airport the hotel did lay on breakfast from 5am

Overall we had a very good holiday and we liked this hotel we had previously stayed in the voyager hotel further up the coast and we would never return, however we would return to this hotel due to the cleanliness and the friendliness of the staff

Room Tip: we had room 303 and it was slightly larger with a bath in the bathroom and a shower it also had a fa...

just came back 16 days with wife and older sun for a beatifull holiday we are really had a great time due the personel and (yes)few beachboys where after the guide meeting booked the safari trip to tsavo for 2days at more than 35 procent cheaper than our travel agency from belguim.i booked right on the beach by a guy named "ananas"fot 2 persons at less than375€for 2 persons all inn with night over in salt lake beatifull lodge.the guy "ananas"phoned even to the driver if everything was ok.so don't worry i could even pay with credit card he drove me to the office so people who says they sale dreams are totaly wrong.and after you booked on the beach they chanche attitude they still try to sell you excursions but if you say no the say ok .the only place after more than 25 years of tourism experience where you are 100 procent safe and protected by more than 10 security guards everywhere only main entrance 4 man ,beach. entree 3guards ,latera sides guards 24 hours everyday .my wife didn,t go on safari due artosic healthproblems and i asked the guards to watch her when she was alone (during our excursions)she is very scary to everything but in this place she never ever was worried or feeling unsafe .the beachboys made even a stick for her so she could wolk to the sea and helped her raising up when she wanted to back .if there were more guys coming up to her the guards of the hotel came up to her and send them away.of course if you give them sometimes 100schilling(0,85 € ) they are happy and we had
raelly a great holliday .
as well the staff off the hotel is great and sometimes a tip makes wonders they serve your drinks at
your sunbed in real glasses (not plastic like everywhere in all -inn resorts) food is ok specially in the"fishermann-cave"restaurant specially the lobsters(not inclusive but good priices with discount.
our flight back to belguim was delyed from 7 a.m to 16.pm and all in till check -out was ok in egypt 5star resort you had to pay from 10 a.m your drinks and food i had this experiance before.
ladies on the beach but when you say no the go away no problem.
only mayby negative point is level of entertaiment team they are about 8 persons but they are not be able to organise evening shows every night shows from outside hotel is after while boaring llways the same dancers.

for the rest every is ok in this place and book your holliday

Thin, sagging matresses, pillows that had never been replaced, rusted fixtures, salt water showers with no hot water, mold in the bathroom, undercooked food, wifi non-functional and nickel and diming at every turn.

For the price we paid we were expecting much more. We complained to our travel agent, who alerted the hotel. We were then sat down by the manager who was upset with us for complaining as he was not going to get paid. It was a very uncomfortable situation.

On the plus side, the common areas were fairly nice, the staff seemed friendly (although room cleanings were far from thorough). This is not a beach that you can lay on and relax (due to tides and all of the people trying to sell you things), but the hotel has plenty of chairs removed from the beach to relax.

My overall suggestion would be to spend a little more and stay at the Bahari in Nyali Beach. Even at a higher cost, it is a better value.
