“Beauiful Quiet resort”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 29, 2013 via mobile

We booked the hotel for a weekend getaway. We enjoyed the kids activities and the fact that it's not one of those noisy places.
The only downside is that on Saturday they had a school that took over the swimming pool and later a wedding by the same pool. It made it quite awkward to swim with all the commotion going on.
The rooms are standard, clean but I believe they could do much more, especially in regards to the bathrooms.
Overall it was worth what we paid

The thing I like about this hotel is its beautiful grounds and decor. They have taken the time to make it really attractive and staying here gives you the feeling of being in paradise. Great service from staff is a plus.
Flamingo is sort of exclusive, situated at the end of a stretch of beach with a small group of beach hotels. There are very little beach sellers to bug you. From here you walk along the beach and also explore other hotels like the Serena and Mombasa intercontinental if you are looking to have a few meals outside the hotel.
Outside the gate is the amazing Safari Inn - they have live band on select days of the week. They serves great food and the proprietor is quite good - takes time to great his guests and talk to them a bit. The place has a few girls on business but they don't bug.
There is also Pistachio which offers a different kind of ambiance from Safari Inn, good band daily apart from Tuesdays. Food is not too bad and is great value for money. The staff are really friendly. There are massage salons next to the restaurant so you can step out from flamingo and treat yourself to a massage and pedicure and then have some nice dinner with good music before retiring back to the hotel. Really nice!
There is a stretch of shops from which you can buy mementos to take home of just walk a long admiring the stuff. You can get clean massage salons along the road or have a pedicure or manicure. Great place to go for a short holiday. Recommend Flamingo Mombasa to all visitors heading to Mombasa North coast.

Visited this resort in May 2013 (low season) so the hotel was basically empty save for afew guests.

First impression was not bad. check in was quick with the welcome drink and cool off towels.

The Hotel grounds were clean and well kept, rooms clean and basic. Food was ok but not much variety (maybe this was due to the low season).

It was a VERY quiet holiday, nothing much was going on.

Would i visit the Resort again? Maybe but during high season to see what it has to offer.

An average holiday resort hotel. Does not accept AMEX card and I had to look for cash or use a Visa card after I had checked in. The receptionist appeared more keen to get me to spend the night there than to allow me to move to a neighbouring hotel that accepts AMEX cards. After a night's accommodation,& Spa I moved to the neighbouring Mombasa Serena Beach hotel and had a real great time. Emrald Beach Resort currently only accepts Visa and Master Card or Kenya Shillings for payments.

Room Tip: There are great alternatives within a waling distance of this hotel. Try the Mombasa Serena Beach ho...

We stayed in this hotel in April 2012. By that time the hotel was under the reconstruction which effected a lot of areas. Spa was not working as it was in maintenance, the room was OK but the shower was not working properly, which gave us a lot of problems. The staff was friendly and tried to do their best to accommodate our requests. The pools are good and they had just installed the slide in the pool for children, although we spent most of the time by the small pool on the second level by the buildings. It was more quite there, the pool was not deep, so we were not afraid for our five-year old and the water was warmer there. When I booked the hotel they did not tell me that the spa was not working, so this was a big disappointment, as this was part of my plan why we were going there: to relax, have a massage etc, which clearly did not work out. The service at the pool was also quite slow. We had to catch passing-by employees of the hotel to call and remind the waiters of our order. All in all it was OK, but I will think twice before I go there second time.

Room Tip: Ask for a room overlooking the ocean on the second level of the building.

On our coastal safari we had a nightstop in mombasa and it turned out the place we had reserved in shanzu was not great so we had to drive around looking for a place. Ww asked around and someobe recommended this hotwl and warned us that the prices were very helpful igh... we went and checked it out and we were very impressed! Very beautiful hotel and the staff... the bar staff and the staff at the dining area were very pleasant. The F&B manager Isaac Baya took time to talk to us at both meals that we had at the hotel and he was extremely kind.
The hotel is on the cleaner part of the northcoast beach and much less populated and we took a long walk along the beach with very little disturbance. This hotel is a lot better than the white sands in my opinion and you get even better service and great meals for less.

Last two weeks we have spent in this Hotel. It was our second visit in Kenya but absolutely the best !
Two years ago we have been in Diani – Sentido Neptun Hotel, was nice. But- Emrald Flamingo Beach Resort & Spa is the gratest place we have ever visited. Writing “place” Im thinking about everything – location, accommodation, service, food and of course people 
Accomodation – new ac, new TV with lot of channel in English, French, Deutsch /film, sport, news/ clean, monkeys looking through the window.
The rooms have been re-furbished and look really, very good
Service – Gabriel was the man who took care about our hotel. Good man who rembered about everything. Modest, helpful, a good man.
Our room /605/ was always shining and new bottle of water and clean towels waited for us in the bathroom. Everyday.
Food – there is no so important for me. I don’t like eat and can eat everything, but my close friend told me that was very tasty  I remember - Plenty of choices, lot of tropical fruits. And what we ll be remember is wonderful woman welcoming the guests and showed them the best tables.
Swimming pool – great, very big, clean, - all what we needed!
The staff was the friendliest we have ever encountered, and went out of there way to make our stay 0very very special.
Most of them /or everyone/ were working very hard. But always found time to talk with us, asked if we need any help, or just said – “JUMBO” !
What else… If we recommend this hotel ? ABSOLUTELY !!!
We loved our time here and will return!
Emrald was /and still is/ our home in Kenya.
And finally - Thanks Suzan, you are the best!
The owners should be happy to employ such workers like you
