Description: In April 1962, as Mombasa was growing into one of East Africa's busiest ports, Dalip Singh Wilkhu had a vision. While working as a signal operator for East African Railways, he was inspired to feed arriving visitors while preparing packaged meals for those preparing to depart. Singh Restaurant was born. Since then, Singh Restaurant has fed generations of people from various walks of life... Providing lunches and dinners for entire groups of workers, for families, for individuals... And becoming one of the most popular tourist destinations in the region, and drawing visitors from nearby cities such as Nairobi and Dar es Salaam. Our success comes from high quality in all aspects of our business, from the food we serve, to our operational efficiency, to the atmosphere we provide our visitors from the moment they walk in, until the moment they depart. Our quality of food and quality of service has helped Singh Restaurant gain recognition as the most highly recommended Indian restaurant in Mombasa by sources including TripAdvisor and Lonely Planet.

“Beats every Indian Restaurant I have ever been to”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 18, 2013

We, the British, consider curry to be our national dish and I have been to numerous Indian restaurants here in the UK. The food at this restaurant is at another level. We managed to find this restaurant through our taxi driver whilst staying at the south coast - what a find! We had prawns masala, chicken masala and butter chicken all prepared fresh. The prawns were a good size (large as I prefer them), lots in one dish and very reasonably priced. The chicken tasted out of this world with unlimited tandoori rotis. The waiter kept bringing hot rotis until we asked him to stop. The restaurant served Kenyan beer and wine. The waiter as everyone in Mombasa was very friendly and service was great. We ended up spending our two week holiday eating at this place mainly. We will definitely visit Mombasa again and can't wait to taste the food from this restaurant again.

“Great Value”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 13, 2013

A visit to Mombasa is not complete without a visit to the Singh. The restaurant has an air-conditioned room which is a treat to get into from the heat and humidity of the coastal town.the décor is very simple and dated but the restaurant is clean. The food is good and for every meal you get all you can eat naan...great value for your money.

“serving Indian cuisine”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed February 1, 2013

An average restaurant serving Indian cuisine.Getting parking can be a challenge during peak hours.Food served is a la carte. The interesting thing about this restaurant is that guests pay for the curries while the chapatis(Indian pastry) is not charged for an unlimited number of chapatis. There is an area for both air conditioning and without air conditioning.Waiters are courteous.

“The best food in town!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 23, 2013

The food really is excellent. If they would tone down the Indian music a bit, it would be perfect! Even their raita is yummy!
