What a wonderful addition to Mombasa's café scene.
It's located at Nakumatt Nyali and the City Mall and is the perfect place for an excellent cappucino, snack and to watch the colourful world walking by.
I believe the owners used to operate a succesful café in Nairobi. Thanks for coming down!
It has a large terrace with lots of seating as well as in-door airconditioned seating where they also roast and grind their own coffee beans right in front of your eyes. Very nice touch.
Cafesserie has lovely items on their menu to include sandwiches, burgers, pizzas, pastas, seafood and steaks. We've eaten the pizzas, sandwiches and burgers and they are all very good. They bake their own bread and you can tell. The sandwiches are wonderful. The burgers was meaty, juicy, perfectly grilled and full of flavour served with pommes allumettes (matchstick fries). The pizzas were very good and would rival most Italian places. We also had the caffesserie ice cream sundae and it was divine. It was massive, full of rich coffee and chocolate ice creams with home made brownie chunks. Very nice. Cappucinos were also delicious.
I observed quite a few people ordering fish, seafood and steaks and they all looked happy with their dishes.
The service is simply excellent. The waiters are mostly female, very pretty, very capable, polite, friendly and 'on the ball'. They quickly settle you in and make you feel at ease. I like their uniform, a pair of jeans, white shirt and apron. Chic and stylish.
The beers are cold and the juices are fresh.
They also have a section where you can buy freshly baked European breads as well as cakes and pastries.
If you're in the North Coast and are looking for a bite to eat of very good quality, this is the place. It's not cheap but it's worth it.
