Our tent was amazing. Actually ‘tent’ doesn’t really do it justice. With a king size bed, double sink, inside and outside showers and a hot tub, this is not like any ‘tent’ we’ve ever stayed in before.
From the moment we stepped off the Safari Air aircraft and met our wonderful ranger Daniel and Masai spotter James - who stayed with us all five days from 7th to 11th July - we were treated like royalty.
Cold towels on arrival (and after every game drive…thank you Joyce!), were followed by even colder G&T’s (thank you Georget!) before Georget was joined by Dario to give us a welcome we will never forget.
With James spotting (how on earth he saw some of those animals we'll never know) and Daniel driving (mainly offroad!) we saw all of the big five....and lot's and lot's of everything else besides! The migration is spectacular and to share it as part of our honeymoon will be truly unfortgettable.
The chef (Philip) and the waiters (Stephen, Joseph and Samuel) were faultless. We rolled out of that restaurant each evening. The food is superb....and the wine cellar is amazing...and puts several London restaurants to shame. Ask Georget to give you a tour!
Philip and the team also prepared lunch every day which was served in the bush - and surprised us on our last morning by treating us to a cooked breakfast, champagne and coffee half way up a hill in the middle of the bush at the end of our walking safari. They were even wearing their chef's whites!
Our butler (yes, you get a butler!) Pascal was fantastic, waking us each morning with hot chocolate in our tent. Thank you also goes to the armed ascari who took us to and from or tent to dinner every night (just in case).
Everyone of the team - Daniel, James, Pascal, Georget, Dario, Joyce, Stephen, Joseph, Samuel and of course chef Philip, are a credit to Mara Bushtops. They made a truly magical place even more special - what a great way to start our married life together!
