Great rooms, great food, good entertainment, the location of the hotel is very close to the park gate so make it shorter to get there from Nairobi, the is a nice pool and other activities which make it perfect to go with kids!

This is very good 'tented' camp in The Mara reserve. The food and service were excellent with cheerful staff. It is very accesible to the major game areas being right in the reserve run by the Kenya Wildlife Service.

First the positives...the waitstaff was absolutely outstanding and extremely friendly. Simon, Emelda and the sweet Linda Alila led this fabulous group. This resort takes great pride in having a variety of food each day. The location of this establishment is great despite the rough terrain leading to the entrance. The grounds are clean and beautiful.

The biggest drawback for me was the lack of views from the tents. They provide a nice patio but most of them face nothing but heavy brush. After an unpleasant first day (2 males) with the front desk, things improved. I thought that this resort had a focus on nickling and diming its guests. They would have every desert under the sun for all meals but then sell ice-cream in the afternoon. This was the first time I was charged for Wi-Fi. They have this big rate sheet by the hour and day and it's not cheap. Lastly, they promote a singer at their lounge and we were there for 4 nights and saw him once.

Dear Guest,
Thank you for choosing to stay with us during your safari to the Maasai Mara. From the onset let me apologize for the shortcomings on your stay. We would like assure you that we are committed to ensuring our clients get the best of our services and products.
Our camp is set within a natural forest which provides plant and animal biodiversity and is still used by the Maasai for as a natural pharmacy with the village medicine men coming from time to time to collect various herbs for use during ceremonies in the community. This has also attracted a wide variety of birdlife within the fenced area of the camp and on your next visit we will be happy to take you round the nature trail to experience nature up close. Having said that, we have several tents which are situated at the edge of the camp perimeter which affords a view of the rolling Mara plains, kindly feel free to contact us directly when planning your next trip and we will avail these for your accommodation.
I have also noted your commendations of Simon Lillian and Imelda who you singled out for exceptional services. I have personally congratulated them for exceeding your expectations in their service delivery and they have earned themselves a SAROVA STAR and a nomination for the employee of the year award in our employee recognition program.
We look forward to welcoming you back to Sarova Mara Game Camp.

Kind regards,
Francis Msengeti

We spent three nights here and it was wonderful. The tents are beautiful, you feel very safe even though there aren't any locks on the doors, but there's lots of rangers around at all time. The pool area is really nice and there were lots of board games and a ping pong table. The towels were huge which was nice.
I had a massage by Grace and it was easily the best massage I have ever had anywhere.
Dr Marcos was wonderful in taking care of my daughter when she became ill (sunstroke). He even came to the room at night to make sure she was feeling better. John, our housekeeper, made us feel super comfortable and always had a big smile on his face even though he had to clean up after a sick child.
We enjoyed a bush dinner, it was magical sitting under the stars knowing the animals were right there.
The only thing that could've been better was the food, not much variety and after three days it was enough.

Dear Guest,
Thank you for choosing to stay at our camp on your recent visit to the Mara. We are delighted that we surpassed your expectations and thanks for all the kind words. We also appreciate that you took quality time to give us detailed feedback. I have also shared your response with my team especially Dr. Marcos and Grace who are delighted that their services surpassed your expectations. Dr. Marcos has been tending to both guests and the local community and is highly regarded by both making him a true asset to everyone who visit or leaves in and around Maasai Mara. His clinic is the go to clinic and he is the first point of referral within a 50km radius. His wealth of knowledge, genuine care and fully equipped clinic has given a lot of people the care and comfort required.
Please feel free to join our online conversation and stay updated on what's happening in the Maasai Mara by following us on Twitter @SarovaMara.
Thank you for your recommendation, we appreciate each word and look forward to hosting you once again.

We were very satisfied with the service and with the food at the Mara Sarova resort. We in particular wanted to praise the chef Gilbert Meambisi who was a pleasure to deal with. Gilbert was very friendly, his cooking skills, we believed to be brilliant as he catered very well for vegetarians and people from the Jain community. Also, Gilbert's customer service skills were excellent. We were very pleased with the resort and the food provided at the resort and were grateful with the hospitality.

The tents are actually wooden cabins without side walls in the bed area (there are real walls in the bathroom area) and a tent inside them. So overall the hotel is a lot like the Sarova Lodge at Lake Nakuru but with some canvas walls. The tents don't lock up - there is a safe and also a chest that you could lock if you brought your own padlock. So to be on the safe side I took my laptop everywhere with me in a backpack. I thought it was safer to bring it than leave it in left luggage at our hotel in Nairobi. Probably it's safe to leave it in your room but I was cautious. I also felt safe walking around the grounds which are protected from wild animals by electric fences. There is forest on the grounds of the hotel and a herd of dikdik antelopes that are like very large rabbits. I was woken up in the middle of the night by what turned out to be a hyrax (according to my driver) shrieking near my tent, but my wife managed to sleep through it. Don't bother paying for internet access unless you have something really urgent to do and lots of patience. It hardly works and is very very slow. We saw lots of wildlife very close to the lodge when we went out on game drives though it is a long way to the Mara River from here. You don't have any view from inside the lodge due to the trees. The swimming pool is nice though on the coldish side - but warmer than one on the roof of a hotel in the Costa Del Sol that I recently stayed at.

Dear Guest,
Thank you for choosing Sarova Mara Game Camp as your accommodation venue during your Safari to Kenya. It was indeed a pleasure hosting you. We also appreciate that you took time to send detailed feedback on your stay.
We strive to ensure that our guests have a safe and comfortable environment while enjoying nature as much as possible. I have also noted the issues with internet and we will be engaging our providers to improve the connectivity as we are challenged by the distance from town.
We appreciate you and look forward to your next stay.
