After Nairobi 2 nights we have arrived to this Lodge and it was wonderful. The Kenyan people are very friendly anyway, we really felt that we are at home. During check-in we said that we wanted to have two single beds but at that time non of the rooms were available and because of the distance to the main block they didn't want to give us from the other rooms.(we were 2 women) On our first night we realized the reason that was because of the baboons and because of the hyenas.
The food was just great.I love Indian food and they had so many Indian dishes. I recommend this Lodge to everyone.

I stayed here with my family in April 2010, it was the last lodge we would visit on our safari after Amboselli and Lake Navaisha. We had seen hundred(s)strong herds of elephants at Amboselli, thousands of Flamingo and plenty of Rhino at Lake Nakuru & the Mara did not disappoint, with plenty of everything including Lions & cheetah which completed an excellent safari! All the lodges were fantastic with excellent food, spectacular views and friendly staff, this hotel has all 3 and located on the side of a hill on the edge of the Mara. If you stay here make sure you go to the lower bar at night you will see the hyena's getting fed which is an amazing sight! Also make sure to look up at the night sky, words cannot describe how clear, full and spectacular it is. Awsome place.

This is the second Sopa we stayed in on our safari, it was a bit better than the one we stayed at samburu.
Nice location, on a hillside, so there are a lot of ramps and stairs.
Some staff were attentive, though service was a bit slow.
No wifi or internet access.
24hr electricity which is good.
Food was hot/cold buffet and reasonable.
Hotel was quite full and there was a queue at meal times.
There was a great Masai song and dance in the evening.

I am writing this review 2 yrs after my stay, as we are recommending this lodge to a lot of people and getting a positive feedback; so pl excuse me for putting the wrong dates of my stay which was 9-11 Aug 2008 (there was no option to put 2008)... The rooms (bandas) were the largest one can have in any hotel / lodge... so were the bathrooms... and the size of beds is BIG as well... Our booking was done through Liberty Africa... The suites are HUGE... The food was good and made for all tastes... As it was peak season, the lodge was full, but given its size there was no problem... staff were friendly... our family group consisted of 10 adults / 2 kids (7&10yrs) - we all had a fantastic time at Mara Sopa...

We stayed at this lodge as part of a Virgin all inclusive package holiday and it not only met our expectations but exceeded them. It’s exactly what you want from Africa, nestled amongst the trees in the Mara it looks and felt like part of the landscape. The driver checked us in whilst the smiling staff offered us towels and orange juice to quench our thirst. We were shown to our room by a happy helpful chap who offered to take all of our bags. Personally we liked to tip everyone as we had read this was pretty much expected, we didn’t tip much but the staff always seemed grateful for what we gave them. There are two rooms to a large ‘hut’, the room was huge with a comfy bed and all the amenities you need. The décor was lovely, really authentic with Kenyan art and colours everywhere. It was a bit chilly to swim in the pool but I braved it and it was great! Walking around the grounds we saw monkeys sitting on balconies and in tree’s and one night heard a noise which turned out to be a Zebra and her baby right outside our room! We had a Masai tribe come in and dance/jump for the guests which was really entertaining. They did come round for money afterwards but you don’t have to give anything if you don’t want to. I can’t really remember the food being neither terrible nor amazing but im sure it was fine. All inclusive buffets can get a bit tiring but I think the choice was brilliant considering you are in the middle of the Masai Mara.

All in all I would highly recommend this lodge and have nothing but good memories from it. TIA – this is Africa!

Began our safari here and were concerned as the food was very poor and we had 7 nights planned in Sopa lodges. Fortunately, the food at Sopa Serengeti and Sopa Ngorongoro was much better. The lodge itself is fine, its more of a management issue.

There's limited hours for electricity and hot water. There's no internet. I don't expect much out here, but the other Sopas had internet and electricity 24/7. The staff here was also far less knowledgeable than elsewhere. There were also more noise issues here than the other Sopas. A family we met were here last year and couldn't believe how much it had changed. Not many choices of accommodations out here. Consider elsewhere or bring your own food.

Mixed bag with this one.
You are inside the Masai Mara reserve, but only just - so whilst it's only a short drive to see the wildlife, there are other lodges further into the reserve and it's a full day drive (there and back) to see e.g. the Mara river crossings during the migrations and if you stay near to the hotel for your wildlife viewings then you will see lots, and lots, and LOTs of other vehicles - namely from all the hotels that are just outside the reserve.
Check in was easy, rooms are clean, mosquito nets came as standard.
Rooms are generally half a hut - so for each round hut there are two rooms, each with ensuite. Noise insulation is non existant - you will hear next door and everything they do. Take ear plugs.
Stunning view from the pool - one of the best sellings points.
Ample, and quite good food (buffet) but lengthy queues are an annoyance and sometimes opens late. You will not get your change back if it is less than 500KSH (about £4.50GBP) unless you ask for it, or maybe it was just our waitress who assumed it was a tip every meal(!)
Hyena and bushbaby feedings most evenings are quite entertaining. Quite a good bar.
Limited hot water and electricity - but you should expect that as it's in the reserve.
