“Wonderful place to stay!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 17, 2013

Stayed at Keekorok lodge mid June for a 3 day safari. We were originally meant to be staying at an alternative lodge outside the reserve, but the safari company (S.H.O.O.R safaris) asked if we'd like to upgrade for a relatively small amount per person, and we agreed mainly on the basis that the lodge is within the NP and would give us more safari time. When we arrived the reception was fantastic with glasses of mango juice and fresh cloths to wash our rather dusty faces. Then the rooms were lovely, very spacious and nice clean bathrooms with good showers (which you want after a dusty day of safari!). Food was excellent, and very plentiful, and cocktails were lovely too. The pool was clean and towels provided for you. The hippo walkway was something special too - a good chance to see the hippos more active in the evening, as well as baboons, monkeys, and even elephants! Staff were always friendly and welcoming, and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to anyone.

We stayed here for 2 nites, 3 days safari and it was a fantastic honeymoon beyond our dreams. The camp was amazing they upgraded us to a fantastic mini bungalow right next to the hippo pool which I loved as I could here them all nite. They put petals on our bed, wrote a letter of congratulations in our room, fresh fruit and flowers and made us a honeymoon cake and the masi warriors danced and sang to us, it was definitely a honeymoon to remember they made it so special. The food, rooms and staff were amazing and everyone was so friendly and helpful. Special thanks to Daniel our warrior guide who was with us from picking us up, on every safari and dropping us back to the plane, and also thanks to our driver. We saw so many animals and got really close it was amazing seeing them in their own environment. I was also a bit obsessed with the hippo bar I sat and watched them for hours, I was fascinated by them. Thank you so much we can definitely recommend it to anyone x Hayley and Liam

I stayed at Keekorok Lodge with my boyfriend and another couple last week. It is a beautiful hotel inside the Park which was a massive bonus- it means less travelling to start the safari and also the animals come to you! They have super friendly staff and there was a lovely, easy welcome quickly being shown to our rooms. The rooms are gorgeous, we had one of the glass fronted rooms overlooking the beautifully kept grounds. Really large rooms, luxurious and a real treat.

One of the key highlights is the walkway built which leads one way to a bar that overlooks a body of water that has loads of hippos. In the evenings you can see them fighting and then climbing out the water. We also saw a family of elephants including 2 babies coming within 10 metres of the walkway on one evening. It was brilliant.

The only down side is that the buffet meals are a bit of a scrum. The hotel is pretty massive and therefore loads of people all having dinner after the safari at once. The food ran out pretty quickly when we went to dinner a little later after a drink. They have a nice bar area and also tea and coffee on a the decked area that overlooks the grounds. The swimming pool was a massive bonus and we had a great time.

For breakfast, it did take ages to get a coffee but the selection was great with fresh pancakes made.

I would massively recommend to stay here.

Room Tip: Ask for a room overlooking the main grounds

The wonderful Part of the overall experience of Masai mara was our the stay at Keekorok Lodge which is an unfenced property in the middle of the gaming reserve.
Children loved the wild life within the property and it was a totally new experience for all of us!
The room was basic and neat. The food was mostly indian and terrific.
Staff were very friendly and helpful.
The gift shop's expensive you can find all of the stuff in the souvinor shops along the way to Nairobi for half the price!
the power cut in the middle of the night was a little inconvinent but had an add on effect to the overall adventure feel!

We stayed there for a couple of nights and it was an awesome experience. The front wall was all glass and we could look out into the grasslands from the bed. There was a small veranda in front where we could just sit and take in the sights. The lawns and the gardens were very well maintained, swimming pool - well maintained, the food is ok-ish, service - great. My only issue, not just with Keekorok but with all hotels in Kenya is the fact that drinking water has to be purchased.

Overall - a great place.

The driveway the lawn the cottages are all set beautifully.. The viewing point is marvelous . The hippos in the small pond adjacent to it are a treat to watch and at night they do come near the villas at the end.. It happened with us. A giant hippo in front of our room. But luckily they dont kill humans and are shy.. So it wont be a problem. Food is delicious.. The staff are friendly. and the interiors of the lobby are rich and warm.. Due to its location there is that eerie thrilling feeling that you are in the wilderness surrounded by creatures..
