Last weekend we had a faboulous long weekend in Mara Rianta with great people, food and company. The game drives were just excellent and we were very happy and lucky to have David Waithaka as guide during our stay! He is very knowledge and able to share his experience with us in a nice and a little humouristic way. The time we spent together were a true pleasure. This in combination with the lodge , its people, ambience and food made it great weekend for us. THANKS

Room Tip: They are good good with personal butler located in tents along the river. The hippos will wake you u...

We stayed one night of which our travel agent paid for which was good because it was very pricey. The place was beautiful and we had a great time but I'm glad we weren't paying the bill. Our room like so many other rooms on our safari was very very nice we had a queen size bed with down comforter with bath robes and slippers even had a bottle of wine in the room.. We had the best view of the river below us and a patio to watch the hippos and geese,. The food was just fantastic .

Spent three nights here and it was the second of four places we stayed. The staff was great. The safari driver was the best we had in Kenya. Ask for Daniel. I can't say enough good things about him. First night there he found a leopard, which we watched as it woke up, stretched and started its evening prowl. The tents are huge and luxurious. There are only 20 tents so this is a small place. The excellent food service is by menu at your table rather than buffet and there is a very decent selection of house wines.

Room Tip: tents go out ten on each side of the central lodge area. Our tent was the furthest out and it was a...

Went to Mara at the end of August 2013 to view the migration. Did not manage to see the migration but had a great stay at Mara Rianta. The staff and the drivers were wonderful as nothing was too much trouble.

Room Tip: If you are vegetarian please have a word with chef unless you like pasta for lunch and dinner.

Our two night stay at this boutique luxury tented camp was a wonderful experience. The camp is located on the banks of the Mara River and we slept to the background noise of the grunting of hippos in the river. Each tent is the height of luxury and comfort and provides guests with individualized attention - such as the private butler who brought us hot chocolate and cake to fortify us prior to an early game drive. The food is wonderful, elegantly served to a set menu with friendly and attentive staff. One rather nice touch is that most things such as wine are inclusive. The camp provides its own drivers and vehicles for the game drives and we found the drivers (particularly David) to be expert not only in locating game but knowing about their habits. To say that we enjoyed staying here would be an understatement. Not only was the lodge fantastic in terms of service and comfort but the game drives and the information given on them made the whole stay memorable.

We went for a long weekend from Europe to celebrate a birthday and the right choice of safari accommodation was a critical element of our trip. We wanted an intimate and boutique-like tented camp such as this one, with great food and service and that is what we got.

I’ve had the pleasure of staying in some fine tented camps in the Mara but this place stands out. It benefits from a gorgeous, isolated location at a bend in the Mara River - even more beloved by the hippopotamus population than by us. You haven’t lived until you’ve fallen to sleep at night to a symphony of hippos playing in the rapids below your tent. You are seriously deep in the bush, surrounded by nature in all its forms and yet have all the comforts you could want. There are only 20 tents and they are elegantly appointed and well spaced out to give you a sense of privacy and luxury. As it is a relatively new property the physical environment is in great shape.

About the game drives: I don’t need to repeat all of the great things others have said but the Mara North Conservancy did not feel as teeming with animals as the Mara itself or other places I have seen. At times we would ride for up to an hour without seeing any animals. But know this: everything you want to see is there (except perhaps rhino) and, most importantly, the guides work with each other and the park rangers to create special, once in a lifetime viewing experiences. They will find out where the lionesses and their cubs are lazing in the grass and take you to spend time with them up close, unhurried, and without 6 other jeeps jockeying around, kicking up dust. Less game, perhaps, but higher quality viewing.

The rooms, service, location and friendliness of everyone was beyond expectations! Daniel, our driver, was a compendium of knowledge and was able to seek out even the rarest of animals on game rides. We saw all of the Ugly Five and 4 of the Big Five: lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo. Fauziah, our butler, must have ESP because she anticipated our every need. I loved sampling the local dishes every night at dinner. The ultimate was relaxing with a glass of white wine on the deck on the last night when a group of 8 giraffes walked by! I will be back!

Room Tip: All were good!
