“Unique Experience”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 22, 2012

We spent 4 days and 3 nights in this camp! It has all tents with personal toilets and shower rooms and a writing desk and safe as well.
The verandah was overlooking the Ngama hills and it was peaceful to sit there and relax, read a book, or just have tea.
The food was good. The staff is very friendly and Chef moses is amazing. Lots of energy and dance. We were treated with masai dance on two of the nights.
They even did a welcome dance when guests arrived, but unfortunately, they didnt dance for us. I wonder why.
One problem is, you can charge your phones, camera's only between 6 to 9 pm. this is a bit inconvenient as we usually returned from the game drive after 7 and had very less time to charge. But the staff at the reception did let us charge the phones there.
One day we didnt get any towels. I was asking for them since 10 am, but we got it only after 6 pm :-( has to take an evening shower that day.
The Lady at the SPA is very nice, lidiya or something. I forgot her name.
She gave a good back and neck massage and foot massage as well.
Overall the stay will pleasant.

Room Tip: Any tent is fine. but the closer to the reception, the better.

I stayed here August 2012 wiyh 16 yearold/9 year old daughters and we really enjoyed it.
Contary to the complainers on here we found the lodges to be perfect .. a combination of log cabin and tent with wooden beds that were perfectly comfortable. There was some rustlings atnight but it is in the Mara .... animals and wildlife are to be expected....it was exciting !!!!
The food was delicious.... and on our last day we had a picnic lunch so we could fully enjoy a game drive out to Mozambique border and the river. The picnic was delicious and sitting out on the mara was experience of a lifetime.
Our guide was Soloman... wonderful guy who told us about so many things...the animals, the life of the Masai and even educated us about the different plants and trees andhow they ere used for medicinal or cleaning purposes.
i think the complainers really should think how lucky they are to have the opportunity to experience Kenya, The Masai Mara and this lovely lodge (lodge people...not a hotel) !!!!
Re water .... only 2% of world has ready access to clean water !!!!! Also electricity ......
It is to be applauded that here such resources are use sparingly.
Fantastic experience and I hope to have the good fortune to be able to return !!!!!

We spent some great days there. The atmosphere is unique. Sadly the ownergroup (Sopa-Hotels in Nairobi) isn't able to manage their bookings. Due to frequent overbookings, wie had to move to another place, where we didn't want to stay. No adequate solution was available. They promised us to get moved to a five star house as a balance. Finally it wasn't a five star but only four star. Sinne we had booked and paid three star that wasn't a big problem. Problem was the atmosphe. Restaurant was like a train station hall with dozends of people, half of them Chinese. So it was far away from a safari-atmosphere.
If you pay several thousands of Euros for such a safari stay, you like to stay according your own choice you made during trip planning. In addition you need to calculate the hourly costs per person (we have been 4 persons) of such a trip. Packing all luggage and moving to another place takes you half a day. This is half of a day missing on your safari, where you have paid for.
So my recommendation is: Avoid any bookings at facilities belonging to Sopa-group as Long as they aren't able to manage there own bookings.

Obviously the safari was excellent, and I had an excellent time at the hotel too. The food was good, the rooms were very cool, and the service was great. Worth a second visit.

We spent 4 days and 3 nights in this amazing hotel! The accommodation is basic but exactly what you need after the amazing safari! The staff go above and beyond for each person! The food is Amazing and the Chef Moses is so friendly. There is food to suit everyone! The guides at this hotel are amazing we were lucky to have Emmanuel and George and they made our safari an experience of a life time! It's extremely safe! If you are looking a place to chill out this is the place to choose!
Only negative point is you can only use electric to charge phones cameras etc between the hours of 6-10pm although out of these hours staff are happy to charge items for you.

Room Tip: Tent room gives you feeling of sleeping out doors but it's dry clean and free of creepy crawleys

We were apprehensive after reading the reviews but on the contrary it was all perfect.when we stay in a jungle dont expect luxuries of a 5 star hotel.the staff was friendly and smiling which was not so in the leading hotels of Nairobi.food was good.I liked the idea of no wi fi and no electricity. At night as there was no TV or light,I used to tell my daughter stories and she enjoyed it.Overall it was a different experience

This was the last place we stayed before ending our 9 day safari! Upon arrival we were greeted with music and clean towels! We were shown our room which is a tented room! The room was spacious for the two of us! It had a large bathroom area with a big shower and dual sinks. The water did not run brown for us, we found this shower to have good water pressure and very refreshing after a long day. There was also a safe in the room to lock up valuables!

What made our trip most memorable was the staff in the dining area. They watched over us and got us anything we needed. I think they were truly trying to make us happy and not necessarily looking for tips! I am a vegan and the whole staff was alterted and whenever I went for food they were very quick to inform me what had dairy or meat in it! Stanley who worked in the dining area as our server was the nicest, funny, most sincere person we met in our travels. He went out of his way to make sure we were happy. We ended up exchanging emails and invited him to come visit us! He was ready to answer any questions about the culture of his tribe and he was able to joke around with us and had us laughing for hours! Moses one of the chefs came out of the kitchen often to see how we were doing.

If it weren't for Stanley and the friendly dining staff I wouldn't have rated this place As high as I did. But this place was much better than Sentrim Amboseli.

Room Tip: We stayed in room 17 which was close to the lodge and the pool!
