“Completely Meets My Essential Hotel Needs”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 13, 2013

I stayed here for two weeks while teaching at Strathmore University. So much positive about the place – impeccably clean, surprisingly quiet, simple attractive rooms with all the amenities I needed to both work and sleep, comprehensive complimentary breakfast, exceptionally approachable staff willing to help immediately with any problems, access to a forested rabbit’s warren of five restaurants associated with the Fairview Hotel, good TV access, good if not super fast internet access – all for a very reasonable rate. I recommend the Country Lodge without hesitation.

The Country Lodge is a great spot for a business conference in Nairobi. The location is very safe, the grounds are spotless and the staff is excellent - very helpful and friendly, always anticipating your needs. We used the mini conference room for seven days and it's ideal for a meeting of ten or under. However there are other, larger conference rooms with the capacity to accommodate larger numbers. The hotel only serves breakfast (first-class breakfast) but don't worry about your other meals because guests have direct access to four upscale and (very satisfying) dining experiences at the adjoining Fairview Hotel. But if you want room service, there's a fair range of offerings at good prices.

The decor is modern eclectic art -doesn't look like a country lodge actually-very clean, comfortable rooms with TV, wi-fi, hot water and coffee/tea facilities. There's also a chill-out space in the cute gardens and two moderately equipped gyms. Nice space to be....and it helps that guests have full access to the fabulous Fairview just next door.

Having stayed before, the Country Lodge is still a place I would recommend to friends as a stop over. Booking by e mail was easy and when I arrived check in only took 5 minutes.
The beds are comfy, room is clean and plenty large enough for a couple so huge for me as a single. Even at 23:00 there was hot water in the shower after setting off from Edinburgh at 04:00. The breakfast area was also nicely set out and the food very acceptable, with a selection for all.
The only issue that some travellers may have is that there is no lift to the upper floors so if not so fit may have to request a ground floor room though I do not know if that is an option.
There are taxi's inside the hotel compound, it cost 800 KS to go to Wilson Airport.

We stayed there twice, one week apart. Registration and checking-out could not have been more efficient. Staff are friendly and caring. Rooms are spacious with no superfluous luxury. Everything was very clean and in good working order. Breakfast had a good variety, including fresh fruits and sushis.

Room Tip: No lifts, so lower floor is best

This is a great discovery: good value, comfy beds, wooden floors and very modern if a little basic, but attached as it is to the Fairview it has the benefits of four restaurants, several bars and the pool. Perfect for transit and short stays. Who wants to stay in Nairobi anyway? At the time of writing we have the dreadful Westgate siege in full swing so are escaping to Lamu. But there is no lift so don't stay on the upper floors if you have heavy baggage!

We had a very good welcome at midnight after our flight with a choice of rooms. The bedrooms are spacious and fairly utilitarion, but fine for a night or two. There is a basin in the room with the shower and toilet in a private space in the corner. The shower is quite roomy. A television is supplied, a bedside light on one side of the bed only and coffee and tea making facilities. Breakfast is on the 1st floor (US - 2nd floor) and there is a choice of cereals, fruit and cooked foods. The Country Lodge now has direct access to the Fairview Hotel with a covered walkway and there one has a choice of restaurants. I don't know if the swimming pool is available for Country Lodge residents. The hotel is well guarded and one needs an access 'key' to enter the hotel. The nearby roads are all guarded and car boots are regularly checked before being allowed into the area - this is the 'safest street in Nairobi' and that is because the Israeli embassy is opposite the Fairview.

Thank you for your feedback and compliments.

Just to clarify on the Fairview Hotel pool: It is strictly for Fairview residents only.

Probably because my dad is an architect but the first thing I look at when I get to an hotel is the Exits and I put myself in all situations. The hotel is great, clean, nice, etc, but we were in the 4th floor (no elevator) at the end of a hall, with no exits whatsoever. It felt claustrophobic … We were there only for one night so we didn’t get to enjoy the pool but the restaurant was awesome (and pricey).
