“Amazing hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 6, 2013

This hotel was chosen based on the fact that it was " for the business traveller". My friend and I were not in Nairobi for business but we figured it would have the security and location that we needed before we started our African safari.
The hotel itself was very secure and we had to pass through a few security doors/checks before we could get in, in that sense I felt very safe here. It is definetly business oriented, it has computers and internet available for a small fee, not outrageous at all, and it seems to have all the necessities one would need to conduct business easily and efficiently from the hotel.
Breakfast was included in our price and it was good as well. Lots of fruit, and juice, pastries, made to order omelets, some deli meats, cereals and yogurt. Lots to choose from and the cooking staff were very helpful in getting you what you needed or wanted should it not be there.
The room was very large and spacious and had more than enough space for 2 people to move around, unpack and settle in comfortable.
The bathroom was clean, shower was a bit dark, would have been nice to have a brighter bulb in the bathroom but other than that, no complaints whatsoever.
All the hotel staff was helpful, they were eager to book taxis or any other items you neede for you. And then they would confirm with you the night before and morning of that they had done what you had asked for properly. Talk about great customer service!
I recomment this hotel for anybody going to Nairobi who needs a nice quiet hotel, where you can just relax and unwind.
It wasn't really a hotel that you could go for a walk around the area because it was kept very secure and staff was vigilant about making sure that everything was ok with you.

Room Tip: All the rooms are quiet and well separated from each other so that you don't hear that much of a...

“Great little sister hotel of the Fairmont”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 30, 2012

My friend and I stayed here during a trip of Africa in October.
We booked through their website, and booked a twin room, which came with breakfast.
The room was minimalistic with two big beds, and was very very clean, and there was also wifi which was included in the room price.
The staff were helpful at the reception desk, and gave us information on Nairobi, which areas to avoid and what the dining options were at the Country Lodge. They have a small menu that could be ordered from the Bar, with drinks, but if you wanted a main meal, you needed to go to the sister hotel, The Fairmont, which was 3 minute walk down the road (and who served amazing food, try the bacon and avocado roll...).
All in all, we were impressed with this hotel, it was cheap, good quality rooms, safe (guards posted outside) and the staff were friendly.
I would definitely stay here again!

“Disappointing after a long trip”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed December 13, 2012

We were booked at the Fairmount, but a tour group did not get back and there were no rooms, so we were moved to the sister hotel -- the Country Lodge. We were tired after many hours of travel across the ocean, and the reception at the Country Lodge was not particularly warm. The receptionist did not acknowledge our inconvenience. Nobody helped us with our luggage. Each of the three of us had trouble getting on the internet, and when we compared notes we learned that each time the receptions told us we had made mistakes or simply told us to keep entering the code, until finally (after 10 or 15 minutes) admitting she had a made a mistake and making a correction that allowed us to figure out how to get on (closing browers, resetting some things). After such a long trip and the unloading of luggage and Fairview, loading of luggage, drive, checkin, lugging of luggage to the rooms, and a planned 7 AM pickup, those 15 minutes, while not consequential in the grand scheme, were quite infuriating. Otherwise, the rooms are functional but not charming.I had no soap in the shower dispenser, but that is a minor quibble.

Thank you very much for your feedback.

I am disappointed to learn that you did not enjoy your stay with us and for the inconvenience caused after being diverted from Fairview hotel next door to us.

Apologies over the poor service from one receptionist and for the time lost trying to get on the internet. Your observation has been shared with the entire team to ensure this does not recur. We would like to make it up to you as a gesture of our understanding for the inconvenience caused. Please make contact with our reservations office to facilitate this.

We hope to have another opportunity to welcome you back in future.

Regards,
Daniel | Joint Managing Director | Country Lodge

“Clean, nice rooms and next door to Fairmount Hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 11, 2012

it's fine for a business trip but wouldn't stay there otherwise. The rooms are fine but there is limited room service and amenities. You could always walk next door to the sister hotel but then you might as well just stay there. However if you are on a budget, the rooms at country lodge are quite a lot bigger than the economy ones at Fairmount.

“secure and quiet”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 7, 2012

My first room was at the front of the hotel overlooking the entrance gate where at least one guard was always posted. Guards would often chat quite loudly throughout the night with their fellow guards or friends so I changed to a room at the back which was quiet. All quite minimalistic but reasonably comfortable and spotlessly clean. No food served apart from breakfast which was rather disappointing in terms of choice and quality; there's also a drinks etc dispenser which has a very limited selection. The mother hotel next door, the Fairview, has a pleasant garden with a bar and bar food, but it seems to close at about 9 pm.
