Country Lodge is located outside of the Nairobi city center in an upscale area. Security in the surrounding area is high due to the nearby presence of high profile foreign embassies and Kenyan VIPs. Outside photography is not permitted in the area.

The hotel has a modern if spartan look (white background, tubular steel, touches of blond wood). The rooms are similar. You get one small (500 ml) bottle of water a day.The beds are about the size of double bed -small for 2 American adults. Single or double rooms no triples. They do not include a top sheet as would be standard in the USA instead a puffy type comforter with a cover which is too warm in the humid climate. The rooms area adequate size. You get one bath towel, one Hand towel but no wash cloth. Hair dryer available at the front desk. There are two small "gyms" each with a treadmil, bicycle, step/stair climber, no free weights.

The rooms are not air conditioned ( I saw no visible vent in the room itself) there is a big somewhat noisy fan in the room - not sure about the lobby.

The breakfast includes coffee, tea, juices, pieces of fruit, processed meat/cheese, cereal, one type of yogurt, breads, pasteries and eggs cooked to order. Water is not included.
Vending machine sells water and a few snacks (was half empty).The vending machine only takes Kenyan coins and you need a lot of them.

Nearby Fairview Hotel has restaurants for lunch and dinner it is about 200 ft down the street.

If you are going to the three most commonly visited tourist attractions Karen Bixby House, Giraffe center and Sheldrige Elephant Orphange this is a good jumping off point outside the worst of Nairobi's notorious traffic.

This area is safe as are the routes to the common attractions. One could drive oneself if very good with directions and with the aggressive nature of Kenyan driving. However, most travellers will be better off with a driver.

Would stay here again no problem.

Country Lodge has got a good package for business stays in Nairobi, Everything works well, staff are friendly and on the ball.
It doesnt have lunch/dinner menu but you can use the co-owned fairview next door (would be a real good move if you could charge from Fairview to your CL room tab but afraid you cant do that).

Rooms are elegantly simple, pleasing and all the important things are there - a kettle and plenty of sockets, including a mix of UK nad continental sockets by the desk.

I stayed in the country lodge for 3 nights for a business meeting last week. The hotel was very comfortable, good breakfast, friendly staff, clean rooms and all normal amenities (practical gym!). Well priced too. I'd certainly stay there again.

I have stayed at the Country Lodge about half a dozen times in the past three years. So long as the price doesn't increase it will remain my preferred choice in Nairobi. The Country Lodge is pretty simple but solid.

I like the rooms, especially the good-sized desks.

The gym is good although they should get rid of the automatic air fresher - I don't think breathing in those chemicals is good for my lungs (I don't care if the gym smells a little like a gym).

Breakfast: very fine.

Dinner: they don't offer this but I go for sushi at The Fairview next door.

So long as they don't increase the price (at least not very much) and I will keep returning.
