“Dinner & show”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 15, 2014

We went to the carnivore for a dinner of game meat and their acrobatic dance show. Had a really fantastic time although the variety of game meat is very limited.

“Nice setting”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 15, 2014

Nice service, you'll enjoy if you like eating a lot of meat. Some of it gets quite exotic: crocodile, camel, bull's testicles...but most of it is quite standard but tasty barbecue (chicken, beef, pork). It is worthwhile visiting, the setting is very nice. It is out of town. There are a few bars and often, a disco starts at around 10pm. It is also nice to visit during the day, it has a playground for kids. Personally, I can eat more at lunchtime than in the evening so I prefer going around noon.

“More hype than substance”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 15, 2014

The Carnivore for a long time was the place for exotic food and great cooking. The government no longer allows the harvesting of exotic game, so all those foods of the past are gone. You can still get crocodile, ostrich (which actually farmed) and ox "balls". The price is high for a Kenyan version of a Churrascarria (Brazilian style of barbecue). There is a far better place with better food and a lower price in the Westlands called Fogo Gouch where they also have king prawns on weekends.

“Nothing special”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 15, 2014

Overpriced and a total "tourist trap". Nothing particularly special or "exotic" at Carnivore; the Ostrich and Crocodile meat is farmed and (thankfully, IMHO) game meat is no longer permitted. Plenty of better and more authentic options. The ngoma bar serves good salads at a set price and the a la carte menu isn't bad.
