“Expensive and uninspring”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed July 30, 2013

Can't say it any simpler than this:

Average food for a high price.

There really isn't much of an exotic meat selection (ostrich and crocodile) being the only ones I can remember in addition to beef, chicken, pork and lamb.

I would skip this gimmick and go to an nice restaurant if you're willing to pay this price.

“Great ambiance, ordinary food”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 30, 2013

I ate at the Carnivore 25 years ago and remembered it fondly. It still has the ambiance of the African plains with skewers of meat roasting over a fire pit in the center of the restaurant. Waiters come by your table offering to slice off freshly roasted meat for you. You could eat forever, so they have a sign you can put on your table to say "I'm on a break" or "I'm finished." But they no longer serve any wild game meats (it's illegal now) and the meats that were available weren't exceptional. I think the meal is a little overpriced, but it's still fun to eat there.

“Can't imagine people still fall into this Tourist trap”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 29, 2013

Food is still very average, Dawa's still watery, but it seems that it remains the tourist place to eat Bush meat, with eth waiters walking around proposing you krocodile, chicken, ox tail, water buch etc. I was trapped into taking some guests who refused to leave Nairobi, without having been there. I had not been in 6 years and it still does not give a decent price/ quality ratio to me either, but guests were happy...

“An must for meat lovers”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 26, 2013 via mobile

Been there ounce
Need to take a taxi out from centre
Cheap taxi though
Great atmosphere and lovely to watch the rotating meats on the spits
Very good beef crocodile and other meats
It's set up as an all you can wat Brazilian type restaurant
You need to prompt the waiters a bit though to bring you the expensive meats rather then the sausages or chicken hearts!
Fairly good value
Definitely I will return when in neirobi again
