“best part - being with friends”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 10, 2013

I had eaten at Carnivore years ago when game meat was also served but since the government has banned game meat from being served, the meat (accept bull balls, ostrich and crocodile) is good but rather ordinary.
I like salads but the way they are served makes them difficult to get unless you are sitting right in front of them where they are placed on the table.
We ate outside and the atmosphere was casual and fun.
I think the coffee was the best I have ever had in the 20 years I have been in Kenya.
The best part of the evening for me was being with friends. The food was 2nd.

“Dinner at the Carnivore Restaurant”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 9, 2013

The Carnivore Restaurant was an amazing experience for us. You are given a tray of salads & sauces with a flag on the top and the staff keep bringing around meat for you until you surrender and put down your flag.
The choice of meat was great and there was plenty of it. We were also served soup and vegetables with our BBQ meats. We had one vegetarian who was extremely happy with her vegetarian option so it caters for everyone.
If you are in Nairobi, this restaurant is definitely worth a visit.

“Lucky evening in Nairobi.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 7, 2013

We had a free evening in Nairobi after climbing Kilimanjaro and safari. Representative Davanu Shuttle express offered us dinner with pick up from the hotel to the restaurant and from Stopover hotel to airport for $ 40. All the time taxist was waiting for us. We tried several dishes-chicken, beef, lamb, ostrich, turkey, crocodiles, bull balls. Staff explains with what sauce to eat them. The kitchen is in the middle of the hall. You can see how huge leg roasts on the fire. Smell is amazing! Beer and juice are not included, we took Tusker. There are a lot of visitors their, several companies were celebrating a birthdays. Employees approached them with drums and sang a cheerful song. Decorations are very intriguing, in African style. You can eat meat as much as you can. At the end of the lunch- ice-cream and coffee. Then we danced at the disco 5-10 minutes. We just stayed there for 2.5 hours. It was a great final of our journey.

“A carnivore's dream ...”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 7, 2013

We couldn't leave Nairobi without trying out this restaurant. We had heard a lot about it and added it to the end of our trip, just before heading to the airport back to Canada. We went with a group of 20 people and they were very accomodating. There was so much choice in meat and it kept coming until you asked them to stop. The meal started out with a salad and a whole bunch of toppings you could add to it. It was nicely presented in these 'lazy susan' type platters. For those of you who aren't as brave, you can stick to the the things you know, like beef, chicken and pork. The most unusual meat I had was ostrich, which tasted alot like chicken. The waiters come out with huge skewers of meat, straight from the grill and you could choose, rare, medium or well done...whatever your preference. The ambiance was lovely and very entertaining. I was also pleasantly surprised by their drink menu. It was plentiful and the mixed drinks were very tasty.

“Tourist catch but a unique concept.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed February 5, 2013 via mobile

I agree with an earlier post that it's not really that 'wow' to eat at Carnivore - I was expecting more 'rare' types of meat, but the most unique I got was croc and ostrich - the others were basic chicken, beef and pork.

The waiters were very accommodating though, so if you just need a nice restaurant to eat at, this is the place. If you're looking for an out of this world dining experience, no.
