“Expensive and outside city limits”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 10, 2010

Though the Panari hotel overlooks the National Park, there is hardly anything which you can see. The room rates are quite expensive in comparison to the facilities offered. The food especially is quite expensive. The Hotel offers regular services, and nothing fancy.

Panari was nice enough to allow us to keep our souvenirs for five days while we were on safari. They also have good concierge service. Those are about the only nice things I can say about the place. We booked a day room with them for a mere $210 US. They are located between the Wilson and Nairobi international airport. We were supposed to get in at about 4:30pm and our flight to Istanbul was at 2:30a.m. so we needed a room for a few hours that was close to the airport. Unfortunately for us, the shower head was broken. We had better shower facilities in the middle of the bush in Tanzania. It is a good thing that we were really tired and weren't staying overnight because I don't think the floor was as hard as the bed was. I seriously thought I was lying on a sheet of plywood. That was the most uncomfortable bed in a hotel that I have ever stayed in. We checked in at around 8p.m. because of our delayed flight, but a short rest a meal and a shower was still appreciated even if it was completely overpriced. Insult to injury, Panari was the first hotel that I have ever spent $210 at that didn't include free internet service. I have stayed at $45 a night hotel rooms and $1000 a night hotel rooms. What did they all have in common? They ALL HAVE FREE INTERNET SERVICE! We checked in at 8p.m. and checked out four and a half hours later and they wouldn't even offer us fee internet access. If you need a hotel to stay at that is close to the airport, try a different hotel. This one is terrible! Insult to injury, we were flying business class. The couches in the business class lounge at the airport were more way more comfortbale than the hotel room was.

Spent 2 weeks working and vacationing in and around Nairobi and the last night that I spent in this hotel was the worst.
It was WAY overpriced.
I had to pay beaucoup bucks for internet.
This is the only place in Africa that I got bug bites and mosquito bites.
The staff were like middle school actors playing a part.
The rooms sucked.
the breakfast buffet was average.
Just basically SUCKS.
And I travel around the world and stay in dumps and luxury. This is the worst ever. Don't stay here.

The Panari is heavily-guarded and at first appears to be a luxury hotel, but it has many problems. We had to wait a long time for our room to be prepared. We were given a room that had not been used for a long time; hence, it smelled and the doorknob pulled off. We were invaded by bugs and our room had to be sprayed. The food was way too pricey. We were not allowed to check out late without paying extra. We have never had to pay so much for so little. The pool was OK but the ice skating rink was expensive and the movie theater was not operating. The food court was pathetic.

After missing our Kenya Airways flight (due to the incompetence of Precision Air), we were put up (by Kenya Airways) in the Panari Hotel. It is located out of Nairobi 'central' & close to the Jomo Kenyatta Airport.

The hotel decor is interesting (think glass, chrome, marble and bold fake zebra skin carpets with black/white/deep purple colour themes). Our room was spacious, quiet & spotlessly clean and had comfy beds, quality linen, TV, Aircon, Phone and a huge bathroom with shower, large bath, toilet, his & hers basins and bidet. Lots of toiletries/ammenities were provided aswell as complimentary bottled water. Our room had floor to ceiling windows with views out over part of Nairobi, the Nairobi National Park & the Ngong Hills beyond. Room service was quick.

Service and food in the 'Red Garnet' restaurant was exceptional, with a huge array of foods (buffet) catering for every taste. The hotel also has an ice skating rink (the only one in East Africa), movie theatre, salon, swimming pool, boutique shops, bureau, bank, gym & coffee shops/bars.

Reception, security, housekeeping and restaurant staff were all extremely friendly and efficient.

Overall, a great stopover hotel with easy access to the airport (especially if you want to avoid all that Nairobi traffic !)

When I visit my parents in Kenya, I always have to stay one night in Nairobi. The first times, I went to the Panari Hotel because of its proximity to the airport. The rooms are clean and the service is ok. Breakfast is good. However, in overall I think the hotel is overpriced.

I like a nice place but $360. a night for this hotel was outragious.
The only thing good at the breakfast buffet was the omlette and the fruit.
Dinner in the Brazillian Steakhouse was a 3 at best, as all the meat was tough to chew.
The staff was very nice, the room was clean, the location was dangerous, the pool was freezing, the elevators were downright confusing.
This is not a 5 ***** hotel by any means. I would not stay there again!
