I booked for my stay at the hostel via email, the management was prompt in replying. On arrival I managed to negotiate the price for a double room which was great. A taxi ride from the main bus station to the hostel cost me 400Tshs but I then learned that buses to Kenyatta hospital pass by the area which is a major save.
It is located in a very quite street, there is a cafeteria at the front gate that serves fast food, local food and buffet at reasonable prices. Java coffee shop is a few feet across the street.
The rooms are serviced, have basic furnishing and bedding that reminded me of my days at boarding school. The double room I lodged in had bunker beds :-))They book same sex in shared rooms unless you make a special request before hand. The charge is per bed.
The bathrooms are shared and not always clean, some times there is no hot water and the floor can be flooded.
They have self-service apartment for rent but it is usually booked up for several days. There is a TV room at the ground floor, an internet cafe and tour operator. The manager is very friendly, helpful and always available.
I loved my time at this hostel, it's not much but it is peaceful and clean.
Would I go back?
I would definitely go back when traveling solo or with a sibling or friend.
