“Oasis of Tranquility”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 19, 2014

If you are looking for a little relaxation and some good food tucked away from the hustle and bustle of Kenyan life, this is the place to go. Need to check up on those Emails over a coffee or a tasty lunch, pop in and use the free Internet connection even when there is a power cut!

The Tin Roof Cafe has been transformed and you can wander into the little shops in The Souk while you are there to pick up that small gift you forgot.

I really did enjoy this place.

“Very small menu but good”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 17, 2014

This small cafe with outdoor seating is charming and the food is good - it feels healthy and homemade. Would definitely recommend it for lunch although the options really are very limited.

“Great find”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 3, 2014

There're a tonne of places for lunch in Karen but this is head-and-shoulders the best. Really fresh ingredients, great menu (recommend mushroom quiche) including super salads, surprising juices (avocado and pineapple, anyone?!). There's a lovely feel of being on the terrace of a friend's house, just a friend who happens to be the best chef of anyone you know.

I gather there's super wifi, but I didn't try it. Instead plans for a quick sandwich with a friend turned into two hours of lazy chat and a proper lunch. Highly recommended - in fact, I'd say even if you're not in Karen, make a detour to go for lunch here. Super stuff, thanks to all.

“Incredible gem in the outskirts of Nairobi”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 29, 2014

Oscar Wilde once wrote:
“After a good dinner one can forgive anybody, even one's own relations.”
Oscar Wilde would have liked the Tin Roof Café.

It’s not just the amazing array of healthy high quality food available, or the delicious choice of beverages from French press coffee to a chilled Pinot Grigio – no, what set’s this place apart from any other restaurant in Nairobi is the feeling you get when you leave it – happy, healthier and able to forgive your own relatives!

The Tin Roof Café is truly unique – from its book swap library to the constantly changing and innovative menu on offer. It may be a small team of staff, but they are utterly dedicated to whatever you may need. Set in the serene suburbs of Karen Tin Roof is a sanctuary among the Nairobi chaos, a place to relax, recharge, bring the kids and enjoy yourself.
I would highly recommend this place. And I’m sure Oscar would as well.

“I'd move to Kenya for a cafe this good...”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 27, 2014

Beautiful cafe, delicious food, friendly staff. I could have stayed all day playing board games, working on the fast wifi, or just eating everything on the menu. Last time I went I was in rush and the wonderful Carol cooked up a yummy steak sandwich with a selection from the excellent salad bar. Next time I'm in Kenya, Tin Roof Cafe will be my first stop. If you haven't been you have to go.
