“A must go if in Nairobi”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 23, 2014

Great Fresh food
Outstanding service
Perfect location in Karen, (the same place has a beauty salon, a book shop, a jewelry and fashion shop, a home decoration shop and the beautiful beaded collars your dog should wear! )

Probably the hypest and coolest place to have breakfast, lunch or tea. No wonder its always full!

“Notting Hill with a Nairobi twist”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 14, 2014

I'd heard lots about this place but living on the other side of town never went… Until recently. If you go for lunch and spend a couple of hours in the lovely garden it's 100% worth the traffic, even if it's reeeeally bad. Heartily recommend… It's Notting Hill with a Nairobi twist.

“Great Food, Great Atmosphere, Great Location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 14, 2014

The recently opened Tin Roof Cafe is a great addition to the Karen scene. The menu offers simple, cafe style favourites: breakfast (where else in Nairobi can you get a boiled egg with soldiers?), crepes, sandwiches, a really good ottolenghi salad and a ranges of mains as well as an ever-changing selection of cakes. The thing that makes the Tin Roof Cafe different is that everything is well done AND very reasonably priced. (Not often you get that combo in Nairobi. And a lot of the time you don't get either.) It's got free wifi, it's located within the same compound as the Souk just off Karen roundabout and it offers an ever expanding range of drinks including beer and wine. It's still establishing itself (the staff are very chatty and bubbling with ideas for the place) so you should establish yourself as a regular quickly before it becomes mobbed!
