“The perfect place to stay to start or end your trip to Kenya. Or for people living in Nairobi, it's a great get away.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 27, 2014

The service and food are suburb and the tree houses are terrific! That's right, you stay in tree houses and each one is different. I can't recommend Ngong House strongly enough; it's a must stay. It's a great way to finish off a safari or to shake off the jet lag. And it's just down the road from the Giraffe Centre.

Room Tip: All the tree houses are great and they have couple of cabins without stairs as well.

On a quick trip to Nairobi I stayed at Ngong House. Arriving close to midnight, someone quickly came to the door, checked me in and had porters carry my luggage to my bungalow. My bungalow, or tree house, as they call them, had a deck, large living area and large bathroom. The bathroom was a delight! The shower provided "rain", the basin was very big and the tub was in the shape of a very long boat. It did take some time for hot water to reach the basin at that hour of the night, but everything else was so charming that I didn't care.
In the morning it was raining. I made my way to the patio (quite a little walk) where there was a table for one already set with a table cloth and fresh flowers, next to a wood burning fireplace to warm me. The plate of fruit which was brought as a starter was big enough to feed two or three. The coffee was in a press and made to order as were the toast and eggs. It was excellent.
I kept the room as a day room for the second night and when I came back to shower and change my shoes ( which had gotten quite filthy)were taken from me and sent for a good cleaning before I had a chance to even ASK if that would be possible. They were delivered to my doorstep before I was done showering. I was only sorry that I didn't have more time to spend there.
It is very close to the DSWT elephant orphanage which was the reason for my trip.

Room Tip: Location of each bungalow is secluded so I think any one of them would be a good choice..

Met by ever friendly staff who welcome you with a hot towel and a fresh glass of juice in the warm dining/lounge of the main reception that is tastefully furnished. The accommodation is a wow factor, with tree houses built on stilts, each with its' own character. You gather around the camp fire at night and are served with delicious canopies and drinks. Dinner is a private affair, each couple/family are designated with a special place set at a distance from each other. Starters are always delicious and the main meal is a choice between of Fish, Beef, or a vegetarian dish. Very fresh and good quality food is met with equally high standards. Usually dinner is a four course meal to feast on. The owner always makes sure to see everyone is happy and comfortable. Lunch is a three course meal, equally lovely.

Ngong House is special. A place where nothing is too much trouble and the detail is looked after. The accommodation and general areas are well decorated and have a comfortable easy air. The tree houses are a real treat even for us, who have travelled a lot in East Africa. The food is well executed, don't be afraid to ask for less as the portions are generous. The staff are great and really look after you you. It is close to the Karen attractions. Into town is a bit further due to the traffic. Overall a real gem of a place at a good price. Definitely recommend.

Driving through residential suburbs, down a interlocking stone road you get to Ngong House. Far from the wilderness setting you imagine when you see the web site. However, I was pleasantly surprise once inside the gates. The treehouse we stayed was romantic with the dow boat bath, nets around the bed, secluded from other places. The porch was perfect place for breakfast the next morning. Staff were attentive and friendly.
A disappoint was the food. Expectations were high based on the web site description. It was good not special. The wine and drinks were average standard.
I would go back and recommend to friends but with lower expectations.

We loved the tree house where everything was made from natural materials. Not one straight wall or door and that's the charm if it. The views from inside are just great.
The food was very nice and we enjoyed it in the cosy atmosphere of the fireplace ( one in every corner!). A very nice outing just outside Nairobi.
