On a quick trip to Nairobi I stayed at Ngong House. Arriving close to midnight, someone quickly came to the door, checked me in and had porters carry my luggage to my bungalow. My bungalow, or tree house, as they call them, had a deck, large living area and large bathroom. The bathroom was a delight! The shower provided "rain", the basin was very big and the tub was in the shape of a very long boat. It did take some time for hot water to reach the basin at that hour of the night, but everything else was so charming that I didn't care.
In the morning it was raining. I made my way to the patio (quite a little walk) where there was a table for one already set with a table cloth and fresh flowers, next to a wood burning fireplace to warm me. The plate of fruit which was brought as a starter was big enough to feed two or three. The coffee was in a press and made to order as were the toast and eggs. It was excellent.
I kept the room as a day room for the second night and when I came back to shower and change my shoes ( which had gotten quite filthy)were taken from me and sent for a good cleaning before I had a chance to even ASK if that would be possible. They were delivered to my doorstep before I was done showering. I was only sorry that I didn't have more time to spend there.
It is very close to the DSWT elephant orphanage which was the reason for my trip.
