“Good stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 6, 2009

Visited Nairobi in Oct. 09 and stayed for a week at Nairobi Safari Club. The hotel is neat and clean, well furnished, great location. rooms are suite, very comfortable. The restaurants are good (both the Pizzeria and Safari Restaurant). Hotel staff are courteous and prompt. Wifi works well. What beats all the good things I have to say about this hotel, is the price. This is a costly place at USD 190/night for the standard room. But then I found everything in Nairobi pricy. With not much public transport to boast about, one has to rely on the cab. A ride from the airport to the hotel is Ksh 2000. But then, nairobi itself is expensive, so an uppy tariff of the hotel is I guess part of the place. Anyway, I enjoyed my stay here and I roccomend it to all. Cheers.

We stayed in this hotel twice - one night at the start and one night at the end of our safari. We booked this hotel because it was marketed as the only suite hotel in Nairobi but like everyone else there, we were just passing through and didn't really spend time in the any part of the hotel other than the restaurant and our room. We had different rooms on each occasion. We found both the restaurant and the pizza restaurant good. The suite however was disappointing. The bedroom was a good size and there was a separate nicely fitted sitting room and good sized bathroom. But, the whole suite was in total need of redecoration and the bathroom, whilst clean, needed gutting.
The staff were friendly and helpful, and were concerned to make safe arrangements for anyone who wished to travel around town.
If you are staying here as part of a safari holiday, one good point was that they did hold the baggage that we didn't want to take on safari.
Would I recommend this hotel? Yes with reservations. However, I am sure there are other good options in the city even if they are not all suite hotels.

we stayed at the safari club hotel in late august. we found the lobby beautiful, the staff friendly and the room nice, clean and roomy. it was nice to have the living area, as well as the bedroom and bath. the hotel is located downtown and not too far from the airport. we found the pizza restaurant/grill had great food and went back again when we stayed a second time passing through nairobi.

we stayed at this hotel before and after our safari in Kenya. Very nice suites, breakfast was huge, staff very helpful and polite. I understand that they cannot change GBP coins(or any coins) into local currency in their banks so it helps if you tip in USD notes.

This hotel has certainly passed it glory days and is in need of renovation. However, the rooms are large - generally a suite with a separate sleeping and living room. However, the furniture and linen and the like is all very old. The staff are very friendly and helpful and keep the place very clean. It has a great little gym and nice pool area.

My wife and I spent a night here at the start of our vacation in Kenya. The staff are very friendly and efficient and they made us feel welcome from the start. The room itself was huge and had a lounge area seperate to the bedroom. The air conditioning in our room was pretty ineffective however and was quite noisy. The beds were very comfortable and we found the hotel to be very quiet. We were on the fourth floor and well away from the busy road outside.
The early morning wake up call was on time and was made by a person instead of a machine!
The breakfast was of a very good standard and the choice was massive.
Overall a very good start to our Kenyan holiday but the rooms are in need of updating as they are starting to look a bit tired.

My sister and I stayed 4 nights at this hotel. We enjoyed out stay and had a lovely large suite with views of the Nairobi skyline. Square pin plugs was a bonus for charging mobiles and video camera. The room had a large safe which we used to store our valuables. Large TV and complementary toiletries and bottled water. Tea/ coffee making facilities was a bonus as well as being able to use the water in the bathroom for tooth brushing. We enjoyed our meals from the buffet breakfast, dinner and also the Sun Deck Grill. The hotel has a small heated pool -unfortunately the pool area requires updating. The location was only a short walk to the centre of town and although University Way is very busy with traffic (especially) during rush hour but we did not hear the noise in our room. I used the laundry which was expensive but efficient, and used the hotel business centre for internet access - charge £5 for half an hour. A Cyber cafe would have been cheaper but having been out all day the convenient on-site facility saved hassle. . The small shop sells curios - and we did have some difficulty getting stamps for post cards. We found that it was better to per-order and the shop will get them for you. We enjoyed our stay and would use this hotel again
