“Ideal for Gujrati (central Indian) Food. Oh and Good Pizzas”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 3, 2014

This restaurant is located in the heart of Westlands. Plenty of parking available which is secure. The food here is prepared well and meets the taste expectations. Note that this is a pure vegetarian restaurant which specializes in traditional Gujrati food - most notably - Thali. Thali is like a 'mini buffet' and comprises of starters, main course and desert - all done the gujratri style.
A main difference in Mughlai/Northern Indian cuisine and Gujrati food is the spice. Whilst Mughlai has stronger spice, Guj leans towards sweeter spice.
Must have:
1. Mash potatoes (take it as starter)
2. Dosa - Cheese
3. Pineapple Pizza with Extra Cheese

I did not like the pani puri here. Anyone saying this dish is good here ought to try real 'chaat' and see the difference. With due respect I would not expect a Gujrati focused restaurant to deliver Chaat dishes to perfection.

Unfortunately they do not serve beer as this would go well with some of their snacks on the Menu.

“One of the best Indian/veg restaurants in Kenya!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 21, 2013

Huge variety on the menu with a great selection of indian street/chaat food.

Food: excellent, particularly the pizzas, baby corn, gujrati thali and dahi puri

Service: quick

Price: very cheap and reasonable

Location/atmosphere: is average particularly as the restaurant is right next to the underground parking so can be noisy particularly in the day time (notably parking is also very tight and limited during the day time since its in a busy area of town). Decor and ambience is also nothing flash, more of a quick eat type of place

“Gujrati food and great pizzas”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 8, 2013

Yes it's an odd combination but Ashiana does both well. Very well.

On Sundays they do a special meal that costs about USD 5. Unlimited Gujrati thali. Very well cooked and tastes delicious.

Gujrati food is served through the week as well.

Additionally they do Indian snacks like chaats and dosas. While I have not eaten them personally, those who have from my family rave about it as well.

And finally pizzas. They do a mean set of vegetarian pizzas with varied toppings. Different but tasty nevertheless.

The staff are extremely courteous and the owner, or his family, is always present and greet you with a warm smile.

The restaurant also has a small selection of Indian fried snacks.

All in all a small good place for Indian food.
