I had just finished a tour of Nairobi National Park and had a craving for some roasted meat or nyama choma at a typical Kenyan restaurant close by Langata Road nearby to where I was staying and a local suggested going to the Park Place Hotel restaurant on Magadi Road.
Well I did, and had a fantastic meal, goat, pork, lamb ribs and chicken and it was wonderful. It takes awhile from start to finish, and this is no fast food order, but the setting was more than comfortable and to sit by the garden area and enjoy a beer and look at the night sky was so nice. Service was a little mixed at times, but I enjoyed it so much I think I went back three more times during my stay in Nairobi. The only sides were roasted potatoes and what made it interesting was that they were cooked a different way each time. It must have been chefs choice night on the spuds. But I loved them all regardless of how they were cooked.
On return visits, they were often short of pork, but always had lamb and goat and kukus. And the price point was right on, not dirt cheap and not expensive either, just a good fair price for a ton of food and so well cooked and the fire pit was right there so you watch the chef in action.
If in the area, I would give it a try for sure.
