“Quaint colonial house turned hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 26, 2014

With beautiful views of the Ngong Hills and acres of mature garden, the Purdy Arms has friendly staff and good service but the rooms have seen better days and some bathrooms are poky. Overpriced and noisy on Friday night.

A home away from home, with a very friendly and relaxed atmosphaere. Service in top and located in a tranquil and peaceful setting. Rooms very charming and unique and far from standard (boring) hotel rooms.

It's a nice place but a bit disorganized ... We were in a business trip and our friends suggested we chose a hotel not far from the place the stay... Unfortunately our business meetings been quite far from the are of the hotel and we had to spent a lot for cabs.. But that's was not a problem..the main issue was service and cleanliness of the room... To order a food or drink you really have to look for a waiter , to pay takes ages .. Food was average apart of pizza .. The room we stayed need a proper renovation, bathroom is also old , outdated English style taps leaking ...on top of that the room was not properly cleaned..
Otherwise the garden and views are amazing..

Staying at Purdy Arms makes you forget all the traffic jams of Nairobi. The vast and beautiful park that surrounds the guesthouse is just stunning. Rooms are very comfortable, the restaurant and pub are also a great place to relax and meet people. Food is nice and the breakfast delicious. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. It is also a good place for children. Purdy Arms has an dog in residence, a clowder of cats, a peacock and some pet chickens running around. I would love to come back soon!

The room was very clean and comfortable, the staff was very helpful, food/drinks were good, and the grounds were relaxing. Overall, the stay was great and when you have staff that are attentive and warm it makes you feel at ease. The only downside is that sound can travel pretty easily from the hallway into the room, and we noticed when other guests were coming into the neighboring rooms. Fortunately we still slept great.

The bar that is a good place to hang out and it didn't get too loud on the weekday we were there (actually made getting a drink nice, and not feel like we were awkwardly hanging out in a hotel restaurant or something). They are very kid-friendly and have a trusted nanny they can call if you'd like. They have a playground for kids and a bounce house on the weekends. Good patio and yard to enjoy a coffee or the great breakfast. There is also a cute clothing/jewelry store in the back corner of the grounds - lots of adorable little girls outfits and other things at reasonable prices.

Make sure you ask the owner about the fascinating history behind the house! Would definitely return, can't say enough how great the staff were.

Purdy Arms is a beautiful little guest house with a cozy restaurant , and a massive garden full of wonderful tropical plants. The restaurant has a great atmosphere , and very good food , and the fresh passion fruit juice is delicious beyond measure ! Rooms are cozy and well sized . Staff are extremely friendly and always ready to help . The only problem is getting into the center of town ,but I don't think you would ever want to leave .

Room Tip: ask for one with a view on the garden
