“Good for meetings”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 1, 2013

I attended a meeting there a few days ago and it was impressive!! The room set-up and ambience was good, wifi reliable and staff were always at hand to assist.
Some few suggestions though.......
1. I think that having to record the serial numbers of ALL laptops in the room is strange. Im sure there are other ways to control laptops within the hotel.
2. The pastries/ bitings offered during the breaks should be labelled. It would be bad if a vegatarian ate meat samosas :-(
Keep up the good job and rest assured of more business if you provide consistent service.

Super new and extremely nice. We started calling it a "lower case" W (less expensive but similar modern design). Linens are great, A/C is quiet and efficient, in house restaurant has a wide selection of tasty foods. VERY pleasant and well trained staff (if somewhat green), rooms spacious with lots of stowage area and a safe that fits a small carry-on. The exercise room is large with many cardio choices and a number of weight machines. They were still working on the rooftop pool but the surrounding deck has many lounges; also, the new rooftop bar/club is still being finished. Great view from that 7th level.
Downside: not near much so it's a cab there and back, restaurant needs to hang some tapestries on the walls for acoustics.

I was in Nairobi for a short business and I stayed in Best Western Premier Hotel, where I had a pleasant experience.

The hotel is new with all modern fittings the location is also good cause its not far from the city center but away from the usual busy traffic jams associated with the city center.

The rooms are very neat, and spacious with lots of amenities, well stocked fridge, complimentary tea set available in all rooms. with well furnished bathroom.

I recommend this hotel to anyone going to Nairobi for business.

Room Tip: They have twin beds at the same rate for a superior single bed room

My experience in this hotel was amazing. The Best Western hotel is by far the best kept secret in Nairobi. It is a very comfortable hotel with the best value for money. My highlight though was the experience at Pablo's restaurant, which I strongly recommend to anyone who loves good food.

The food menu is great, with excellent service. This is the one thing that takes me back there again and again and again and......... Special thanks to Ms. Miriam, the food and beverage manager. She's always up to speed, knows what is going on, and is constantly at hand to meet customers' needs. Together with other staff, they make the dining experience at Pablo's simply wonderful. I would strongly recommend this place anytime.

A really wonderful product this is.

The cabs in Nairobi how absolutely no rationale in demanding crazy money for plying short distances and hence this location seems to be inconvenient. A more preferred location would be Westlands. As for this hotel, its newly built and hence absolutely fresh. However there are some teething issues like some noisy work going on at day time. The shower didn't have hot water in the evening. Also the water is either too hot or cold.the mixer doesn't work properly. The buffet breakfast was sad and didn't have enough options for vegetarians. However the security on the gate was courteous to go out and fetch mobile topup as many times I asked for.

In terms of facilities and comfort, this new hotel in Nairobi rates pretty well. I would say only that the internet was intermittent, the shower went from scalding hot to luke warm in a kind of rhythmic and uncontrollable fashion, and the designer sinks have no plugs so you end up wasting a lot of water when you wash or shave (and Nairobi has a water crisis?).

However, my big gripe, and the reason for the 2-star rating is what happened when I came to check out. I booked by phone and was quoted a USD rate, inclusive of breakfast and taxes. On arrival I was quoted the same USD rate and duly paid for it in USD with my international credit card. The receipt was in USD. However, when I came to check out 3 days later I was told that I had to pay and additional $3.54, or the equivalent in Kenya Shillings, because of exchange rate changes. I refused, believing this to be some kid of front desk scam, but the receptionist flat refused to back down so I coughed up Sh 300 and left, rather angry I have to say.

If this was a one-off incident down to an individual staff member I could let it go and give the hotel 4 stars. But clearly this is an institutionalised policy - quote in USD, bill in USD, take payment in USD, receipt in USD, but then if there is a change in the USD exchange rate to the Kenya Shilling, hit the guest with it when they come to check out. Very bizarre, and completely unacceptable practice.
