“An interesting half hour into Kenyan culture”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 2, 2014

Each room had designated areas to show the development of Kenya and it's regions over past years from traditions through colonisation to the present.Artifacts were well displayed and commented upon showing rich and diverse cultural understandings of communities and tribes,
Well worth a short visit if you have an hour to spare and are staying in a Nairobi Hotel.

“Interesting experience”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 23, 2014

The African Heritage house is absolutely beautiful and has a lot of history. There is much to be learned about African culture, history and backgrounds. Also listening to Allan's stories is quite interesting. However, having spent a night there, I noticed that the rooms are quite cold and lack frequent dusting.

“One tour is never enough, The more visits the better for enjoyment”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 2, 2014

I have visited the African Heritage House several times and taken many people to the house but i always feel like i need to go back.

The house is a masterpiece. The 6000 + collections makes it one of a kind in the world, not to mention the myriad parties and events held at the house. Noteworthy is the event to save the Lions of Nairobi National Park, Wedding of the Nobel Prize winner Wangare Maathai's daughter among others.

Make an effort to tour the house whenever in Nairobi. Its proximity to JKIA makes it an ideal place to spend the night, have lunch or dinner or just a tour.

You are missing out if you have not planned a tour.

“This is a jewel - not to be missed”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 23, 2014

Alan Donovan has one of the finest collections of African art in his own home. He guides the tour. You can stay there while it is still a B and B. It may not be for long. Any visitor to Kenya should take the time to see three stories of a lovingly collected and displayed body of work. And then you get fed. Expect to spend 4 to 5 hours there. Just amazing. Nairobi National Park is Alan's back yard.

“The most amazing house in Nairobi”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 3, 2013

The developer/owner of this house is Alan Donovan, and he is a truly unique individual. We were so glad that we took the time to visit Alan to not only see every room while listening to his stories about many of the artifacts but also enjoy a specially prepared dinner with him. No one else in Africa has dedicated his home to the love of all that is Africa. I bought a necklace that he had made and will never forget his hospitality.
