“"Out of Africa"-ish”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed April 5, 2013

As a Dane visiting Kenya I'm kind of obliged to visit the world famous Danish author Karen Blixen's home a little outside Nairobi. Only to learn that half of the content of the house comes the movie "Out of Africa" (Merryl Streep, Robert Redford). And only to realize that I know more about Ms. Blixen's life than the young guides showing us around. The house and the garden are very charming seen from the outside, but inside it's a big disappointment. Even to a Dane.

“Good but expensive”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 1, 2013

This is a very expensive museum, and it should be noted that most of the things in here are actually props from the movie Out of Africa, not items that belonged to Karen Blixen - those are in the museum in Copenhagen. Having said that, if you want to see her house and see some of the things used in the movie, it is a good place to go - albeit still expensive!

“Karen Blixen Museum Nairobi Kenya”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 22, 2013

Although the museum was closed we were allowed to get in. A very well informed young man toke us around and gave us the background of the house, Karen Blixen and the life during that period in Nairobi.
We have visited the museum some years ago and still it is a fascinating place to visit. It has really atmosphere.
The museum opens again for visitors mid April

“Great place”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 10, 2013

Visited on a day excursion on a stop-over in Nairobi - well worth the visit! The tour guide was great and the story she spun was fascinating.... although, had I not recently watched 'Out of Africa', some of the romantic draw of the place would have been lost. Watch the movie, read the books, visit the museum. Amazing lady, that Karen Blixen.

“The movie :" Out of Africa"”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 26, 2013

At first i thought the movie was a tale after visiting the place i got the real picture of it, the magnificent building at the venue actually gave an impression that the movie was actually a master piece. the venue is cool and all the guards can give you a detailed information about the place.Kenya is actually a country where one would never miss to visit its truly a beautiful country.
A walk through the former coffee plantations increased our quest to have more, the machines used fro grinding the coffee where still in place after centuries of being in use. By the end of the trip still wanted to have more. Kenya is truly a beautiful country
