“pretty much a dream moment”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 21, 2013

If you are a fan of Karen Blixen ( Isaak Dinesen ) and Out of Africa then you will be sure to want to visit the home. Much of the original furnishings are gone as she sold most before she left Kenya, but there are some items and what was most interesting were reproductions of two of her oil paintings - I had not known that she painted and they were excellent portraits of her houseman and a beautiful Kikuyu girl. I had a guide which was worthwhile. It was pretty amazing to experience where she loved and lived. I cried.

“Nice place to visit”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 19, 2013

This is really nice place for a day visit with family and friends. It helps if you know a bit about the history beforehand (or seen the movie Out of Africa!). Really beautiful gardens and house. There's also a coffee place nearby which does some yummy snacks.

“You've seen the movie.....”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 15, 2013

The house and grounds are beautiful, the staff's eagerness to ensure you buy a ticket or make a purchase from the shop detracts from the experience a bit though.

“Out of Africa”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 3, 2013

This is one of my favorite movies and I couldn't wait to visit the Karen Blixen Museum. It was wonderful. Our guide was very knowledgeable and did a great job sharing information about Karen Blixen and her life in Kenya. She included information about the filming of the movie as well. It is a beautiful place and so much fun to see.

“A dream come true for me”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 30, 2012

Out of Africa has been my favorite movie for over 25 years and Karen Blixen was a fascinating woman so I was thrilled to get to visit her home. It's just like in the movie and some artifacts in the interior are original (such as the famous cuckoo clock). The Kenyans really seem to revere her memory and some of the staff are volunteers.
