“It is different”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 2, 2013

Hotel location became very good after Nairobi new ring roads, so you can access to many places within reasonable time.
Still Safari park gives you the feeling of living inside a very nice tropical park and its special designed rooms all in wood are really nice.
Breakfast is very good and there are Chinese, Japanese, Italian and Kenyan Barbecue restaurants which are good and the night show at the Kenyan restaurant is really something to watch.
It is a little bit expensive and the Internet was not stable and not dependable if you are in business trip and the swimming pool is not that nice.
Still it is different and special

Room Tip: Rooms 700+ and 800+ are near to Pool and restaurant, which makes life easy, but some times noisy.

I stayed here for a conference. I think it is a great place for large meetings and retreats, because of its capacity. However, if they don't manage to fill the rooms, the place tends to feel a bit deserted. The location is a bit off, so unless you are working in the area, I would not recommend this hotel for regular business travelers (although a highway will take you most of the way to the city, you will tend to spend a large amount of time in Nairobi traffic if you're going to central Nairobi or the airport). The garden is lovely, which means you'll have a great and tranquil view from your balcony. Restaurants serve good food. The interiors of the room and the hotel areas are well maintained and beautiful old style.

As a frequent business traveler in Kenya, I was open to switching up my usual hotel to Safari Park but was immediately disappointed. The location is OK and the grounds are beautiful. The gym is also excellent so for grounds and gym, I give this two start.

The service is TERRIBLE. The hotel didn't organize my ground transport from the airport as promised and then when I arrived, after 24 hours of travel, they didn't have a room for me. Thankfully they found a room after I showed them my internet confirmation but this took some time. The entire hotel is LOUD and the rooms are designed with business travelers in mind. My 'executive suite' barely has a workspace and the non-stop live music every night and all day sunday renders it nearly impossible to find a quiet space to work. I'm staying at the hotel now and I would really like to switch hotels but everything is booked. The food is marginal and overpriced and the staff are not particularly helpful. My suite is above the mt. kenya meeting space which means I am awakened every morning at 6am to loud chatty catering staff.

I will never stay at this hotel again and I will make sure my colleagues know how terrible this place is!

Room Tip: Stay at the Fairview - it's a much better value, equally as beautiful, better food and MUCH BETT...

Location is good if you want to travel towards north of Nairobi. You can reach to the hotel from airport without getting stuck in the Nairobi traffic. We were offered room on the first floor and it was near the restaurant. In general all the restaurants in the hotel are expensive. Restaurant offering Barbeque with Dance is excellent. They offer a lot of variety of game meat. Free Wi-Fi is available in the room.

Room Tip: The hotel has very big campus. Ask for room near the restaurant.

This is the 2nd time I've stayed at the Safari Park. I will say, it's better this time then when I first stayed here a few years ago. This hotel is not close to the center of Nairobi and it's a fair ride from the airport (about an hour). The name of the hotel conjures up images of a remote hotel situated in the middle of the jungle, however, that's not quite what it is. The hotel sits right on a major highway, aptly named the Thika Super Highway. It sits next to car dealerships, schools, and gas stations. All rooms have a balcony, but if you are near the edge of the property, you will have a nice view of the highway. The hotel itself is fenced in with guards that patrol the grounds. The grounds are well kept and are quite sprawling. The hotel has done a nice job maintaining the grounds in a very nice state. Staff are very friendly, and they try their best though service won't be up to high standard. They are often slow and usually will get your request (or order) wrong. They try really hard though so it becomes just something you get used to and not aggravated about. The rooms are not great, mine had a broken TV, broken glass on the door, and the hardest most uncomfortable bed you will ever sleep on. I highly recommend you use the mosquito netting, it's not there just for decoration. The bar above the main lobby, Hemmingway's, is a nice place to have a drink and the casino is ok as a distraction (our party was often the only folks there). Overall, the hotel is what it is, a decent place to stay as a base, but I suspect you will be happy to go home when your trip is over.

I love the large grounds of this hotel with extensive conferencing facilities which was fine for me as I was there on business but I'm not sure how the holiday people sunbathing felt with many business people walking around. The rooms are comfortable all spread in separate blocks around the grounds so you may need a Torch on an evening. A great selection of restaurants and a bar and casino. a nice little set of shops selling local handmade items.

One of my friends flew to Kenya but the flight was delayed, so I called the hotel to rearrange the pick up. The staff was very helpful and gave us discount on the room.

It was a pleasant experience with the hotel and fast respond from the customer service centre.
