Stayed here for one night on arrival in Nairobi before heading off for safari in Mara. To be honest, with hindsight I wish we had booked to go straight to the Mara as we were only on a 4 night holiday anyway.
Was a bit disappointed when we arrived at hotel as normally I would go for something a bit more luxurious (it was booked for us by a travel agent and I didn't have time to do any research it before I ok'd the booking). I was a bit startled to see that our room was directly accessible from an outdoor corridor, and given the amount of security we were welcomed with this somewhat alarmed me. That said, I guess I was then reassured by the amount of security! The room was fairly basic, but functional. It had clearly just had a lick of paint and spruce up, but you could tell it was really old. It seemed odd staying in a room that still had 'old style' boxy tv's when most others have had flatscreens for years now.
We didn't spend much time in the room though, and went on a tour of Nairobi for the day and went somewhere else for dinner in the evening. We had a comfortable and peaceful sleep though.
Up early in the morning to head off for the long bumpy drive to the Mara, and made sure we stocked up on our breakfast, which had a good offering and selection and the service was good, considering it was so early in the morning.
I have nothing to complain about really, it was functional, but I am glad we only stayed one night, think I might have got a bit depressed if we had stayed any longer!
