“Good food, good location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 3, 2013

Whenever am in Nairobi, I ensure i have a meal here. The food is good. Had both lunch and dinner here and it is well done. Food doesn't delay that much like in most hotels.

It is found in the middle of town and after shopping, one can just walk in. The ambiance at the hotel is perfect for one to relax.

The customer service is equally good.

Have stayed in the Stanley 4 times during the past 3 months and I have enjoyed every stay tremendously. Will again stay there next week and I am already looking forward to the trip. Love to relax at the Exchange Bar, in the evening after a long days work in Nairobi, and just appreciate the professionalism, smiles and total commitment of 2 of the guys there – Thanks to Sammy and Robert for their great work! You 2 make my day a complete success even though every day has it’s challenges. Looking forward to see you the next time.

Have been staying at the Stanley for over 20 years. Service is wonderful and they really look out for their guests to ensure their safety - Nairobi is not safe to walk around and they will advise you and organise safe transport for wherever you are going - you can rest assured that you will be safe when staying there. Since their latest renovation a few years ago the rooms and restaurant and very modern, also very clean. Very good food in the legendary meeting place, the Thorn Tree restaurant, and even a Thai restaurant on site now. Nice pool for sunny days, we also really enjoy eating up at the pool. Breakfast is amazing, cooked to order omelettes, pretty much whatever you want. Nice gym and massages available too. They are very efficient at organizing airport pickups and drop offs for people going to / from safari.

My wife and I just returned from a several night stay before and after our safari. We booked our Nairobi hotel carefully after looking at tripadvisor and decided to stay here and it was nice. The hotel is about a 3.5 to 4 star by u.s. standards and a nice hotel for the area. The place feels very safe and we had no issues with any crime during our stay. Nairobi is not very safe to walk around for americans, but we walked a few blocks feeling safe. The hotel rooms are nice, nothing fancy, bit safe, quiet and comfortable to recover from jetlag and rest up for safari. There is a restaurant that serves good, basic food and a nice bar inside and a good outsde pool area with a bar. The gym is nice and there is no cost to use it, which was nice. Our beds in our room before the safafi were rock hard and very bad, but postsafari our room had much better beds and were fine. The room service food was rather good as well. Overall, it was a nice place to stay a few nights for feeling safe a quiet room with some road noise and a decent pool where you can eat a decent meal and their nice breakfast buffet is included. I recommend staying here a short time to rest up bdfore and after safari but thats it, not much to di in Nairobi, would stay again.

Room Tip: Some road noise so a higher floor is better for sure.

We were looking for a place to stay prior to heading out on safari - and it did not disappoint.
Great location, classy rooms, and enjoyable food. It's not 5 star though - deal with it!
Can't complain - well except that apparently Nairobi isn't safe to walk around at night, we had to take a taxi literally 1 km to get to an outdoor bar to have some drinks.

Hotel was also kind enough to hold onto one of our bags for the week while we went on safari.

A nice hotel with very large rooms and a lovely breakfast buffet. The hotel feels very safe with a lot of guards and a security control before entering the hotel. The hotel also offers their own taxis, which was a nice facility. The pool area is also very nice and we enjoyed the free wifi access (that is available within the entire hotel)! I do not have anything negative to say about this hotel, except that the rooms were a bit dark. Otherwise, everything was perfect!

Thank you for your review.

We appreciate your 5 star rating in com. Thank you for comments on our spacious rooms, lovely breakfast, airport transfer services, swimming pool, free WiFi and secure location.

In exception was the concern of the room being dark. We have noted the comments as an action point during our continuous property improvement plan to review our lighting and decor.
