“Wish We'd Stayed Longer”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 1, 2010

We used Nairobi and the Fairview as a base for our trip to Kenya, Rwanda and Zanzibar. The hotel itself is lovely, with a range of restaurants, nice pool and lovely grounds. The hotel also organised all of our airport transfers (taxi drivers who work for Fairview) plus a trip to the elephant orphanage. We stayed in a First Class room on 3 occasions. On our final visit we were upgraded to an Executive Suite for free. All of the rooms had access to the free wifi. The Executive Suite was the only room with air-conditioning, however the fans provided in the First Class rooms were more than adequate and probably better than having to sleep in airconditioning. We were also able to leave our extra luggage at the hotel while on Safari.

I loved it! Its a beautiful old colonial hotel with a history. It has beautiful well manicured gardens and lovely restaurants and they serve the best "rock shandys" by the pool! They come in a glass the size of a small bucket- just perfect!!! The place is just pristine, with friendly helpful staff. I would love to live there permanently! If you dont manage to get a reservation with them you can always book into their sister hotel (country lodge) which is a short walk up the road.

Hard to beat, and increasingly hard to get a room during week nights. Just doesn't get much wrong, except the sleepy reservations process via phone and email. First class rooms are in a separate block and not obviously better than the executive rooms. It's an old building so there's a lot of variation in room size/spec and wildly varying internet connectivity. Great Japanese food. Lovely swimming pool.

I've stayed at the Fairview 3 times now and am disappointed I can't stay there on this my 4th visit to Nairobi. Staff are friendly and efficient, several choices for where and what to eat, WiFi, decent rooms, decent price. Very recommended.

....it's the best!!! Don't know if previous happy posters mentioned but there is free internet access in the rooms to use with your own computer. We always travel with a "netbook".

Totally impressed by friendlinesss and service. The garden is superb and the restaurent upstairs (forgot the name) is exquisite. A quiet place within the crowded city.
I have stayed in many hotels in Nairobi and can highly recommend Fairview.

We were on an organised trip that started in nairobi and we arrived a few days earlier.
The hotel with its gardens and swimming pool make it an ideal place to have a rest. The rooms are clean and quiet. Breakfast was excellent and we had dinner in the restaurant which also proved to be a good choice. The room had a safe and tv. I can only recommend the hotel
