“Friendly oasis in the middle of Nairobi”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 14, 2009

The best hotel you can stay in while in Nairobi. It's absolutely great value for your money. Clean rooms, very quite, lovely gardens with big pool, friendly staff. There is nothing else you could wish or ask for. While sitting at the pool bar or in the lush gardens you'll forget your'e actually in the middle of Nairobi ! The whole atmosphere is lovely. And only a few minutes away from down town. Only hotel I know that looks better in reality than on it's website !!! I know other hotels in Nairobi and I can definitely say I won't stay anywhere else anymore!

We just spent a relaxing and lovely seven nights at the Nairobi Fairview hotel. It was very comfortable, the staff were wonderful especially towards our lively and energetic toddler, and we all enjoyed the beautiful gardens, flowers, water feature and swimming pool. Our son kept busy every morning helping the gardners refill the numerous bird feeders. which attract a variety of colorful birds.
The hotel front desk staff helped us find drivers to take us on daily outings including a wonderful daybreak trip to the Nairobi National Park--the David Seldrick elephant orphanage, the Giraffe Sanctuary and so on.
I spent quite a while comparing notes with friends on other hotels in Nairobi and am convinced that the Fairview is a terrific "deal", as it offers a lot more than many hotels which cost $200+ a night (which are located downtown with the smog, polllution, noise and no gardens, and not terribly safe to walk the neighborhood after dark!!)
So I would heartily recommend the Fairview to anyone who is in Nairobi on business or passing thru before or after safari'ing!!
Hakuna Matata!

I recently stayed in the fairview for one night. Very reasonably priced, clean and comfortable with very friendly and efficient staff. Lovely front garden with water features and a cafef / restaurant. Sitting here, you forget you are in a capital city.

We travelled to Niarobi in October to hold an International Meeting (16 of us) and stayed in the Fairview Hotel. It felt safe and had a very relaxed atmosphere. The food was outstanding and the staff were remarkably helpful and friendy. I would highly reccomend this hotel for both business and pleasure!!

I just completed a 4 night stay (on business) at the Fairview. This hotel thoroughly deserves its place as one of the top reviewed hotels in Nairobi.

Let me start by stating that I paid about $100 (8600 shillings) per night for an economy single. That's a good $100 or more cheaper than most of the other decent hotels in Nairobi. It also includes an excellent (and very pleasant) breakfast and a pretty decent wi-fi connection. So in fact, you are saving another $30-$40 per night on the Intercontinental etc.

The Hotel is situated in a very nice, leafy part of Nairobi known as Upperhill which is 5 minutes away from the center by taxi. But that 5 minutes feels like 30 since the hotel has large surrounding grounds with grass, trees and you have no sign or sound of the sometimes chaotic traffic that plagues Nairobi. Its also situated opposite the Israeli embassy and subsequently the street is known as "the safest street in Nairobi". If you're looking to be part of the hustle and bustle, this hotel is not for you. If you prefer things more relaxed and quiet then do not hesitate.

As I mentioned, I had an Economy Single, which meant I had a single bed, but that actually meant the room had plenty of space. There was a large desk, a sitting chair, and a very large bathroom with a huge shower. Its not luxurious, but its very comfortable and homey. Honestly I don't see any reason to take a better or bigger room. One word of warning though, there are no elevators, so if you're on the 2nd or 3rd floor and have issues with climbing stairs, beware.

I ate in 4 of the hotels multiple restaurants, and food was fair, nothing special, but certainly not bad. Service was always outstanding.

There is a very nice pool area, a well equipped gym and generally the hotel has lots of nice places to hang out. The cafe in the front I found particularly pleasing.

All in all, this hotel is great for business or for pleasure. I would have no hesitation staying here again, nor using it as a base for a family vacation in Kenya.
