Let me be really clear: I don't find Nairobi a great city to hang out in, but do have to pass through it for work. And I cannot fault the Fairview as really the only place to stay! The gardens create a wonderful sense of space and you begin to relax as soon as you are through security.
The hotel provides different kinds of room and different eating options to suit different budgets, but frankly - with the exception of the upstairs restaurant which must be one of the most exclusive in the country - you really are paying very redo ably for what you are getting.
The ensuites are generous, the food very good, and the staff are - without exception in my experience - delighted to be of service and excellent at their job. My only reservation this week was the Christmas carols on the piano in the dining room , but that is my problem not theirs! And on my first stay, having a cool late evening drink by the pool after a challenging drive in from the airport was absolutely perfect!
