“5 stars for sure, but might not be the place for senior executives”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 15, 2014

First and foremost, I had an amazing experience at this hotel and I would most definitely return and recommend. I loved the grounds, the restaurants, the staff and thought my room (while basic) was very comfortable. I work in corporate security and this hotel was recommended by several of my local vendors as being the safest hotel in Nairobi. And based on my 5 day stay there, I would completely agree. It's not as high profile as the Serena, Intercon or Sankara. It's located directly across from the Israeli embassy so it's already in a highly secured neighborhood. And their security officers were very professional, thorough, but not rude (I hear they are trained by Israeli embassy security personnel). The food was amazing, especially their fine dining venue Pango (it's a must visit). I think it's worth upgrading to a first class room just for the AC and larger space, but my colleague stayed in Economy room and found it very comfortable. I loved this hotel. However, if you are expecting the Ritz or Four Seasons type of experience in terms of spa showers, limo service and concierge service, this may not be the place for you. This is definitely more of an "old school charm" type of place, and that might not appeal to some travelers. But I loved it, and if you're a bit more laid back and want an amazing experience, I would highly recommend the Fairview.

Room Tip: Worth the extra money for a First Class room.

This place is really fantastic. Service is great. Rooms are good. The gardens outside are phenomenal. You feel like the place is secure - especially in a place like Nairobi where there has been some violent as of late. It's a fabulous place to stay in Nairobi.

Although I had stayed many times at the Intercontinental Hotel, due to favorable reviews, I decided to try the Fairview Hotel, a very wise decision. The hotel is an oasis in the bustle of downtown Nairobi. Located near the Israel Embassy, the security is top of the line. Not only are the staff are very friendly but there was also an enjoyable chorus of tree frogs to welcome us.

Initially, I was a little concerned that our room, which was supposed to have two double beds, had one bed plus a sofa bed. The check in person said we could be moved for the second night if the sofa bed was uncomfortable. It was wonderful! No issues at all and no need to relocate. Wi fi is available in the room and quite fast once I figured out that I needed to go to the hotel’s website to connect (this is common now at many of the locations). The room had a separate bathtub and stall shower, good water pressure and plenty of hot water. There was also a desk fan to help circulate the air.

The breakfast buffet was enjoyable with a huge selection of fresh fruits, cereals, pastries and eggs cooked to one’s liking. Dinner at the poolside cafe was excellent and prices reasonable.

The gift shop near the entrance had a very nice selection of items. They also sell postage stamps

Room Tip: Corner rooms have great cross breeze

This was my third time staying at the Fairview. I travel for work and most of my meetings are in Westlands or Parklands and I am constantly being advised that there are good hotels that are more convenient. However, the Fairview is a welcome break from the corporate hotels I spend most of my time staying in.
The rooms are spacious and clean and every room appears to be different. The staff are always willing to help. The breakfast is good and you always feels safe. The food in the different restaurants is alway good.
Getting around is easy if you use one of the 'authorised' taxi drivers, who are always reliable and charge a reasonable fair.
I look forward to my next trip to Nairobi and my stay at the Fairview.

Stayed last w/e at the Fairview. Pool room was very comfortable but needed updating a little - comfy and clean but a little dull. However the gardens and ambience made up for that - a green oasis in the city.....Food was just amazing my Kenyan Rack of Lamb in Pango - the fine dining restaurant - was exceptional. Steaks the next evening exactly as ordered and Short Ribs - wow! Chef Korich making a real name here for their cuisine.Wine well priced for a city hotel. Staff exceedingly polite and helpful - especially Grace in reception and the delightful lady QA Manager (sorry forgotten your name!) ....Will return for sure. Great for business people or holidaymakers alike.

Room Tip: The ground floor pool room was a good choice for us - not too big and not too small. Needed a bit o...

This property is situated in a business district and is a good place to commence the Nairobi journey. Clean, compact rooms and business-like meal delivery with a nice ambience. Feels more safe than a 007 target !!

Room Tip: All rooms come with their own pluses, was told -:) Walking on the hill early morning, is a plus.

Always good to back, even if it is for one night. A great place to stay before heading out on safari.
Staff is always friendly. The grounds are beautifully maintained. The history of tis hotel is worth the stay.
