“An excellent choice in Nairobi”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 21, 2014

We loved the Serena - stayed here on two separate occasions on our African trip and found it to be an excellent choice. The service is fantastic throughout the hotel and staff went the extra mile for us in various ways. It offers the comfort of an international chain but with a distinctly and proudly African feel. Best breakfast buffet we had every seen. Very large and comfortable beds, free wifi, great pool despite city centre location. Importantly for Nairobi, security procedures are thorough and will give even the most nervous travellers comfort.

Good hotel in the middle of Nairobi. I was expecting quite a lot but I found the rooms to be a bit small and darker than I thought. Service was great though with some really fantastic staff. perhaps we got a bit unlucky but the food we had on arrival took an age, arrived at different times and was pretty disappointing. Gym was good but also a bit small

Thank you for the review.

All our rooms have a wall length window which allows lots of light and the comment on 'dark room' is uncommon.
Our fitness centre too is quite spacious and I suspect that you could be referring to the wrong hotel since our location is not in the middle of the city.

Kindly let me know which room you occupied.

Yours Sincerely,

Lovely hotel, staff very friendly, generally very good, but expensive for what you get, especially the breakfast. Also got service charge on just about anything you eat and drink. Room very nice, room service fast and realiable.

The Nairobi Serena hotel was a very good choice for a hotel in Nairobi. It is very safe, with security check points at every entrance. The decor is lovely, with authentic, museum quality african art on display in all hotel public areas. The rooms are large and well appointed, although the bathrooms could use an update. The food is good, and service is very attentive. The hotel has a beautiful garden and a large inviting pool. It is in the middle of Nairobi so depending on the time of day, getting to and from the airport can take over an hour.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on a high floor overlooking the pool

The Serena knows it is good and it delivers. Classic styling, excellent service, a fabulous buffet, and convenient to the airport. It's in the hustle and bustle of the city so getting to and from the airport can be tricky depending on the time of day. Still, if you are new to the city, it gives you a taste. We got to see some of the serendipity of the city while sitting in traffic watching a group of roller skaters weaving in and out of the slow traffic. We arrived in the evening and left for safari in the morning. Having been out roughing it, the pampering by a well run staff and convenience were hard to beat. You can change money 24 hours a day. We considered leaving some of our stuff since we were coming back after a safari. They were equipped to handle it. I had the sense that they had such depth of experience that they could handle just about any request we made of them. My only quibble is that the hotel is looking a bit worn around the edges. No question that it is beautiful. But I noticed a stain on the marble from a leaky faucet. And the shower head was a bit plugged and tended to spray both inside and outside the shower space. The people were top notch. The buffet spread was delicious and beautifully presented. I had the sense that the facility itself needed a bit of loving attention.

very few hotels in the world that have all these advantages, the friendliness of the staff is exceptional and they are really ready to fulfil all your requirements.. the hotel is very clean and tidy, you can't complain about anything.. the gym has all types of equipment's that you may need, and the pool is quite spacious, and more important, very clean.
the breakfast had a wide variety of choices, I also had dinner in the hotel, and the food really tastes good, compliments to the Chef
