“Probably the worst Hilton in the world”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed April 1, 2010

The rooms on floor 3 and floor 6 are manky, smelly decrepit and just generally yuck. Got one once on 12 that wasn't as awful.
Breakfasts are just a bit below standard but evening buffets are truly horrible.
Internet is a bit slow and an extortionate €20 per day.
the Jockey bar is basically a pick up point for the local prostitutes.
The staff try hard and are very friendly and helpful within the constraints that they have to work with.

I checked in this hotel on 31 Jan and checked out on 02 Feb. Well, for me it was a very cost effective hotel as I paid just USD 97 + taxes as I booked through Expedia.com. Otherwise their normal tariff is USD 225/- which, to my opinion, if priced high just for name sake but for that amount what you get is not a value for money.
Surroundings are bad, service is average and general cleanliness is average. Room view is good. They dont allow non-resident guests in rooms but you can pay somewhere areound $10 to security in-charge and he will not only allow but also make sure your safe and secure rides with your casual partner.
breakfast was good, having a wide choice of continental menu. Internet is costly. Room size is quite big and you can feel a free walk around the corners.
It is in the heart of the city so taking a taxi is not a problem, but outside is hugely overcrowded with low-level peoples.

Ambivalent about the Nairboi Hilton. Once you are inside the hotel it is a beautiful old world place to stay with an excellent staff and enjoyable restaurant for breakfast.

It is the getting there and departure that is challenging. The Hilton Shuttle picks you up at the airport and locks you and your luggage in. Upon arrival, you must pass through a guarded gate whilst the guard searches the entire vehicle including the undercarriage for who knows what...bombs? hidden unwanted hangers on? You then pass through a metal detector to enter the hotel. Later we learned that the Hilton was once THE place to stay many years ago, but now the city center is not a very safe place to be.

Definitely NOT a 4-star hotel--rooms are tiny, shabby, internet is incredibly expensive, not so clean--basically, very disappointing. There were hairs in my bathtub in two different rooms, and the phones did not work in the two different rooms (one had no dial tone at all, and one had a dial tone but would not dial the front desk or any of the other direct dial buttons on the phone). After asking twice for shampoo, I received a bar of soap. Bellhops did not come out to the car to take my luggage, they just stood around inside joking until I called one of them specifically. Check in and out takes an inordinate amount of time with insufficient staff at the desk, and both times I checked out the credit card machine had connection problems. I would not stay here again under any circumstances.

Although we stayed only for a night, it was well worth it. The hotel is in a very good area for eating out, and shopping. Do visit the two curio shops inside the hotel. You get some very good stuff there at very reasonable prices, especially in the last shop. The staff is very helpful, nice and polite. The buffet spread is very good in the main restaurant. It is relatively safer for tourists to stay in this locality than in the central business district of Nairobi. Also very good for business stays.

Rooms with funny dimensions.. The staff is very friendly and cordial and this was my fist experience of my lugguage being scanned by X-ray machines... Only after 26/11 this has become reality in India

Spent couple of nights at the Hilton, with a special weekend internet promotional rate. Was worth every euro... Comfortable rooms, good buffet breakfast and enjoyed the gym as well. However, was turned off on the cost of using WI-Fi at room. Decided to use the internet cafe opposite the hotel, with a fraction of the cost. The best was the location, truly dowtown. I found it quite safe to walk around regardless of all the warnings.... Recommended, at least for the promotional rate.
